As someone who went to UVa for undergrad, I keep the same ID and email, right? When I tried to go to that site, it said "revalidation" not activation.

That sounds right. You can get new aliases though, of course, but your computing id should be the same.

I hope so. I was used to the same...and this e-mail is sort of ridiculous. Makes me feel like a robot or something.greygoose wrote:lies man, i'd totally do pranks with emails...

check this section:
http://www.itc.virginia.edu/email/ams/
look at the alias tabs, i got it to work and although i still have that ugly email they gave me, i created an easier to remember alias forwarded to the original set up.
ex: they gave me johndoe1911@virginia.edu
now i can use the address below to check my email:
johndoe@email.virginia.edu
not sure if that's clear?

I've created mass e-mail chaos
I'm excited, I've already setup my imap so everything goes to Mac Mail (my gmail, my Hopkins account, my UVA account). Yay streamlining!

Wow @ ya'll wondering why some Facebook folks had Virginia email addresses already, without checking to see if you did too. I'm intrigued that apparently so few people thought to look themselves up in the directory before I mentioned it. Gladiator, maybe ya'll aren't so "sneaky" after all?
In other news, UVA Law Class of 2008 graduated today. Inclement weather moved the ceremony to Mem Gym instead of the Law Lawn. I hope it isn't raining on Sunday May 22, 2011!

Re: University of Virginia School of Law 2011
Thanks for all that info. I just set up my email and an alias, too.
In other news, I'm done, I'm done, I'm done!!! Had my last ceremony for graduation today. Yay!!
And I'm driving down with the family to c-ville tomorrow to show them around. So excited to see what they think. And I move in less than 4 weeks!!!
I'm so excited.

I just got my email address set up and just had to join the UVA network on facebook. If only getting my "real" address were this easy...

Did anyone happen to notice the example in the explanation of the difference between an @virginia.edu email address and a @email.virginia.edu address contained the following:
That made me laugh.Email addresses in the virginia.edu domain are associated with primary addresses at UVa (i.e., computing ID (at) virginia.edu, such as mst3k (at) virginia.edu).

@ Sia- I'd be surprised if most all schools didn't have an online directory by now...
But you're all welcome for pointing out the obvious...
@ OnceLost- I am geeky enough to have noticed it too, although I was never a fan...

Random question: Does anyone know where you can find nice UVA Law shirts/hats online?
I tried the online UVA bookstore (the regular, not the law one) and was disappointed in the selection.

Ugh, why won't UVa let my pre-entrance health record from undergrad, I just did this shit 2 years ago.

Heh, I haven't done it in 10 years. GULC was going to grandfather me in without needing proof any immunizations (I'd still need the TB check). When you say "the online... law one", did you mean Courts & Commerce, or something else? --LinkRemoved--SteelersandGators wrote:Random question: Does anyone know where you can find nice UVA Law shirts/hats online? I sure would if I had parents who could cover me! Unless your parents are going to charge you for you to be on their policy, you might as well enjoy it while it lasts.J-Rod wrote:will anyone else be opting out of the university insurance in favor of their own plan?
