I tried to find a link for them but I couldn't find anything.I'm looking at Arlington Townhomes. 5 min. from campus and they allow pets.
EDIT: I think the undecided guy is becoming closer to deciding

Does anyone have any idea how far Graduate Center is from the school? If it were close the school, it seems like a fairly inexpensive place to live for the area.

Graduate Centre is close - within a 5-7 minute walk up Arlington Boulevard.
Arlington Court and the other condos along the boulevard are leased through individual owners, so the best places to look, I think, would be local directories (classifieds, Craigslist, etc.). It seems like talking with current law student occupants would be a good idea, though I have no clue if there's a list running around somewhere.

Yep, exactly. I still don't get what the big deal about driving 5-10 minutes is...lishi wrote:but no places close to campus except pets. That makes it harder for animal lovers.

i've lived within walking distance my entire undergrad. i hate traffic and parking. i have a 2l roomate this coming year though, so we can get a better parking place... and we can carpool.

I go to work for a few hours and there's 2 new pages of posts.
Anyone interested in Graduate Centre can talk to me, I'm probably going down there to look at them on Saturday.
I guess depending on how 1L goes, I'll decide whether to stay there or join many of you at the Woodlands.

I'm so depressed. I just came back from visiting C-ville and I was set on the Woodlands...now that they don't have any 2 bedrooms I'm completely screwed.

It actually makes me a bit mad because they "never got" my application the first time I sent it, so I missed out because of that. But the new, reduced rate for 3 bedrooms fixes things. I would try lobbying harder with them, I am under the impression that there are more 2-bedrooms, they would just prefer to sell them rather than to lease them.tkm. wrote:yeah, only 3s...which means they leased 4 flats and 4 townhomes since saturday around 5

What is the new reduced rate? Any reduced pricing on buying?

The Woodlands are out of two-bedrooms, but instead are offering 3 bedroom flats at a $1500 a month rate, with a $1500 cash back signing bonus if you sign before April 30. They're drawing up my lease right now!Now just to finalize getting a roommate... argh, Holly!
I'm moving in August 1, hooray!
I'm trying to live in the Woodlands and I would prefer a 3 bedroom. If anyone is interested PM me.

No idea on buying, but I would certainly do that if I (or my mom) had some serious savings to burn.aguyingeorgia wrote:What is the new reduced rate? Any reduced pricing on buying?
It's $1500 a month for a 3-bedroom, minus $1500 cash back for signing before April 30. That comes out to about $690 a month per person if you split it two ways, or about $460 a month if you split it three ways (that's nuts, considering cable and internet is included).

Yeah, I'm with you too! I've found a place on Arlington (that does allow pets) - and am very happy to be so close to the school - and the supermarket(s)! I just think that come exam time, driving to school in the morning will look a lot less appealing.ubuntu wrote:ok phew, i'm not the only one.Wellsfargowagon wrote:As many props as Woodlands and Lakeside are getting, the convenience of living within walking distance of the law school is well worth sacrificing apartment quality, especially around exam time. I'll probably move somewhere nicer and farther away for 3L and maybe even 2L, but I'm really drawn to the idea of being only a few minute's walk from school and having most of my friends live nearby.

Ubu, I emailed that to J-Rod a few days ago!
The fine print seems strange. Looked like they would lease it 2 people and you'd need to make sure that they wouldn't then get upset and kick you out if the come visit (fix something, who knows) and find 4-5 people there.

Re: UVA Class of 2011 Housing Thread
I'm still deciding between two schools right now and probably won't make a decision until around April 21. If I do decide to come to UVA, will there be enough time to find an apartment within walking distance and a non-psychotic roommate? Reading this thread is starting to stress me out a little bit...

Cerise, I'm securing a place without a roommate so have no fear. Worst case scenario, I'll have a place for you

According to the management, Graduate Centre (easy walking distance) doesn't fill up until June, it's walking distance and all grad students (perhaps some grad students are psychotic?). --LinkRemoved--cerise wrote:I'm still deciding between two schools right now and probably won't make a decision until around April 21.
