Hi everyone-

I visited this site a bunch during LSAT prep but pretty much forgot about it until a few days ago. I just stumbled across this forum and I'm excited to see that other class of '11 members are getting to Ithaca! I've been here since the 1st and I'm definitely in if anybody wants to meet for lunch or a drink over the next few days.

And LeahNic, you should give Wegman's a try. Probably the best grocery store I've ever been to.

Are there any buses that go out to Wegman's? I won't have a car, and will be living near campus, so it will be pretty far from me. When I was there, though, it did seem like a Kroger or Jewel on steroids though, and had less of the yuppie feel that I get from Whole Food/Trader Joe's.

This website should help. Wegmans is listed as a stop on the TCAT bus line and there are plenty of places to hop on the bus near campus.

I just made my first Tops run this afternoon. It's okay, but like Leah said it's not on Wegmans' level fo sho.

I'm so jealous that you guys are already having mildly disappointing shopping experiences.

T-minus 8 really really long days.

Hah yea, I know the feeling. I was going absolutely stir crazy at home the past few weeks before getting in town yesterday.

I'll also piggyback onto what Leah said earlier and that Ithaca is absolutely STUNNING right now. The high today was like 73 with a nice breeze, lots of sunshine, trees full of leaves...it's really something to see. I don't usually give a crap about stuff like that but the weather is just unbelievable here right now (especially compared to South Carolina where I've just spent 2 weeks walking around in what feels like a humidity chamber).

While everyone is raving about Wegmans, I have to say I am in love with the Aldistore. It's just like the Aldis in Germany, and even here, things are pretty cheap. If only it were a little bit closer to me...

Anyone going to the farmer's market tomorrow?

Are you trying to make me more stir crazy? :(

I think I'll just leave me house at like 5am on the 23rd, then I'll at least get there before noon.

FYI- the invitation email to Dean Schwab's BBQ may not have been forwarded to any other email addresses you're having your Cornell.edu email forwaded to (like your Gmail account) as it looks like it was sent to a campus-wide address and not a BCC. I just say this because I thought I hadn't received the invitation, and I know all my Cornell emails are being forwarded to my Gmail so I never check the uPortal, but I just did for the first time in like a month and there the invitation was. So you all probably have it, but it just might not have been forwarded to your 'main' personal email addy...

I'm in! There are a bunch of restaurants/bars on Aurora near the Commons that look pretty nice. Lots of outside seating too...

Count me in as well! Drinks outdoors in the cool evening air sound perfect right now.

I think I saw a nice little pub on Aurora somewhere, but I don't remember the name... I will leave the choosing of the venue(s) in more capable hands. Does anyone know what time the "night life" around here gets started?

So jealous too, coming in on Monday. Guess I will miss this round of drinks but I'm guessing there might be another...and another.

I'd be up for drinks too, but I'm going to have a lot of shopping and unpacking to do tomorrow. Next week some time though, for sure.

If only they had some competition for the discount/private-label market like they do in Germany. I studied there for a semester in UG, and it was nice to have the LIDL and the Penny (along with the store with they black dog on the yellow background, the name of which I can't remember), just to have options.

Cheap German groceries for the win. :D My German friends were shocked to hear we have an Aldi, but then they immediately said, "But do you have a LIDL? No? HAH."

Are we thinking happy hour/evening drinks or a little later? And if need be, we could always put this off...i know how stressful and exhausting moving can be. Whether it's tonight or another night, there's a place called the ale house that might be fun.

On another subject, can you guys believe this weather?!

Seriously? What are you waiting for?

Now there's a charge.
