Re: NYU Law Class of 2011
I know this is a bit of a longshot, but the NYU Furman would be my dream and I was wondering if there were any Furman finalists/winners that would be willing to send me a PM to chat briefly about how they approached the 500 word essay.
My main question is how to best divide the essay. They ask why you are interested in legal academia and also what field you'd be interested in. The answer to the first seems pretty obvious and I don't want to come off as either too specific or too unsure when it comes to answering the second one. Would it be overkill to list specific faculty that I'd be interested in working with?
Any help would be greatly appreciated, thanks.

Don't know if any of you c/o 2011 people are still reading this post, but if any current student who lives in mercer or d'ag wouldn't mind, could you post a couple photos of your apt? the few on the housing website are small and outdated and it would be great for those of us who didn't tour or don't have photographic memory to know a bit about what to expect, esp from the furniture.

I can't post pics, but my room in Mercer (as with all of the others I have seen) is huge. I am here for the summer and was in D'Ag for the school year. Mercer is amazing but I liked D'Ag, too (especially D'Ag's location). If money isn't an issue, go for Mercer. If it is, D'Ag is perfect.
* Can't post pics because I don't have photobucket or anything like that. If you want to PM me with your e-mail I'll gladly send you low-quality pics from my iPhone (it's all I can do!)

mercer bedrooms are huge, but the living area/kitchenette is tiny. feels like a dorm. if you can, i would really look for an apt elsewhere, especially since housing prices have dropped everywhere else in manhattan
that being said, it is convenient having most of your friends live in mercer and d'ag

i hate to hack this to death, but... i'm going to hack away.
starting at NYU here. been stalking these forums for advice and came across NYU 1L's lengthy, informative, and somewhat frightening guide to law school success. for NYU students who actually read it, what are your opinions? is this a "different strokes for different folks" thing, or is his approach likely to be more productive?

I found his advice counterproductive. I did FAR better without supplements or other shortcuts--if I had ignored his advice to begin with, I would have been much better off.nthanks98 wrote:i hate to hack this to death, but... i'm going to hack away.

i don't know why everyone is so down on cases. sure you don't have to cite them, but if you can't understand the reasoning in the cases, you have a big problem. you can get BLL from cases, but you can also get a lot of policy too, i found them quite valuable
