This is actually almost unreal - but I literally just found out that my current boss had White for contracts over twenty years ago. He said that I had, "struck gold" with White and that he was by far his favorite professor. Wooot!

I have many JJ stories that I won't tell on the internet.
I definitely don't expect to collect nearly so many from any other law school class.

Yay stotan.
There's normally no way to request a section, though I do actually know one guy who was able to due to family situation. And then it turns out that most of the married fall starter 1Ls are all in the same section, so I wonder if the student affairs people were like: Oh, this guy thinks this is the best schedule for married people. Well, we don't want them to feel alone in the school, so lets put them all in that section.

Oh, I'm talking about this year, not next year. You'll find out your section at orientation.
This one guy had compelling reasons to request a particular schedule.

I think bio folks use those large rabbits as large scale antibody factories, but they are usually white. Most of our modern biomedical research works because of them.Lothar wrote:The Flemish Giant bunny rabbit.scarletmuse wrote: Holy hell, am I seeing that correctly? That's a big fuckin' bunny, Lothar.

Are there lots of trails for hiking and/or snow shoeing near the school? How far to drive or walk to get to them? How many miles?

I know very little, but I'll share my incomplete knowledge freelyAre there lots of trails for hiking and/or snow shoeing near the school? How far to drive or walk to get to them? How many miles?

When we went "running with Dean Z." at the March ASW, we ran over to an arboretum which is right by the school, (but didn't go in because it was so slushy). Apparently though, it offers a nice place to run. Also, I think there are running trails by the Huron river (?). I am saying that based on housing research - a lot of places I looked for in Kerrytown said they were right next to running trails on the river.
I don't know if either of those places are quite what you are looking for.

Oh, you went to that? What exactly did it entail? I somehow managed to wake up in time to go, but I got waylaid by my Campus Inn roommate, who I hadn't actually met until that morning. By the time I got to the LC, the group had already left. I figured I would be able to find you guys if I ran around enough, but had no such luck. I ended up running all over campus feeling sorry for myself and terribly hung over. Good times. When we went "running with Dean Z." at the March ASW

mildmannered:
i regularly hunt, fish, and hike in the entire Michigan region and am well aware of plenty of trails, some of which are specifically for c-c skiing and snowshoeing. PM me if you want more info; one really beautiful trail is called the Potawatomie Trail...it's about 14 miles from Ann Arbor. There are plenty more close by. The key is that Michigan in general, including the Ann Arbor area is rife with outdoor opportunities for anyone. My wife and I are taking up kayaking the hundreds of lakes (and a few rivers, like the Raisin and Huron) as a new hobby (just as an example of what is at your fingertips). I actually talked with a Prof. at Michigan that fly fishes a mile from my brother in law's cabin on the world famous Muskegon River.
Hope this helps.

It was nice. I would say there were 8-10 of us. We met in the lobby, ran through toward the arboretum, determined that it was too slushy and then did some other short loop. It was short but brisk.Oh, you went to that? What exactly did it entail? I somehow managed to wake up in time to go, but I got waylaid by my Campus Inn roommate, who I hadn't actually met until that morning. By the time I got to the LC, the group had already left. I have since thought that the positive "body memory" created by running at the ASW influenced my choice of Michigan for law school - they reached my head, my heart, and my muscle tissue/endorphins.

Anyone at the Law School involved with this?
--LinkRemoved--
The UM's official poker league, and I guess they're a chapter of Harvard Law's Global Poker Stratgic Thinking Society...look at the law professor advisors of their group:
http://gpsts.org/about-gpsts/
Wonder if they do intermural poker tournaments

awww, I almost wish I didn't know that, but that makes sense. I forget that rabbits are research fodder. I just did a google search of "flemish giant research university of michigan".Rayster wrote:I think bio folks use those large rabbits as large scale antibody factories, but they are usually white. But I'm lucky I'm no longer a UG with a bleeding heart (or at least I don't follow up on my bleeding heartness to the extreme), so I don't necessarily disagree with the means to the end of advancing medical research.
And I saw 28 Days Later, so I know the potential consequences of breaking the bunnies out

p.s. and I hope you all don't think I'm going to be your bleeding heart classmate
