There's 50% chance I'll be going there (FT), still deciding between getting a JD or a MS.

I'll be there this fall as well! I'm moving from Oregon, so I'm a little nervous about trying to look for apartments over the internet...anyone have ideas?

As for housing, I live on Long Island, so if I don't get into the dorms I'll be commuting for at least the first semester or so.

What lenders have you found to be the best for the Stafford and GradPlus loans?

I'm also headed to Fordham (PT). As a traditional, straight out of undergrad student, does anyone have any pointers on where to look for a job? I feel like I need to do something with my spare time so I don't look like a bum.

Re: Fordham Law Class of 2011
I would be content with just snagging a job in the morning at a local Borders or B&N, to be honest. Do you think that is enough? I mean, I am definitely planning on moving to full time after the first year, so I think it would be a waste to pick up a full time job. I also would like as much time as possible for work pertaining to my classes.

I'll be attending in the fall and am pretty pumped about it (FT). I'm in the process of looking for apartments, but am more or less lost (I've only been to the city once so really don't know what I'm doing). Anyone looking for a roommate PM me. Living alone is way too expensive.

Hello future classmates,
Has anyone received the book Asylum Denied in the mail yet? I haven't, but want to start reading it and I am getting anxious waiting.

Re: Fordham Law Class of 2011
Hey guys.
I'm taking torts this semester and I have Professor Ben Zipursky; he's a visiting prof at my school and was at Fordham until last year. Zipursky's awesome, he's a fantastic teacher. Only problem is, because he's new, none of his old outlines or exams are available to his current students.
I know Fordham has an online outline bank and I'm pretty sure a lot of Zipursky's old stuff is still on there. I'm not a Fordham student though, and you need an ID and password to sign in. Would any of you be willing to do me a huge favor and maybe pull his old outlines and exams off the database and email it to me?
My email addy is alexkim024@hotmail.com. Let me know if you're willing to help me out. Good luck with your studies, and don't stress out too much. We'll all get through finals!
Alex.

Doesn't anyone here feel that Cardozo is a special case? especially for IP? Fordham seems connected with the private firms in NYC and all but Cardozo seems more like a place interested in studying the law, involving the humanities in the experience, the idea of public service, etc... and they have a nicer campus for that matter. They got a Supreme Court clerkship a bit ago; they are obviously taking aim at Fordham's ranking by spending a ton of money on scholarships and they just hired their new dean from Fordham a year ago which might also help with getting as connected as Fordham is with the firms; I think they have jumped about 10 places in the ranking in the last 10 years; they get a lot of great professors coming through there even if these people are just visiting or often using Cardozo as a stepping stone to more prestigious schools. Does Fordham really offer that much more than Cardozo beyond 20 or so places in the US News rankings? I am not convinced it is a better place to study than Cardozo despite these rankings, and I am not entirely convinced a degree from Fordham opens more doors or that, if it does, the difference will be as big in 3 years.

+1 to the whole thing, this is my exact question.Jacobt wrote:Doesn't anyone here feel that Cardozo is a special case? especially for IP? Re: Fordham Law Class of 2011
I do not agree at all - I think Cardozo is still way below Fordham in terms of biglaw firm placement and overall student body competitiveness/accomplishments. I went to Brooklyn but I have always remembered the NYC firms ranking the local schools as (1) Columbia/NYU--(slight drop)--> 2) Fordham--(big drop)--> 3) Brooklyn/Cardozo -(barely noticeable drop)-> 4) everyone else.Jacobt wrote:Doesn't anyone here feel that Cardozo is a special case? especially for IP? The luring of career service folks does little to really impact job placement because the firms already have a pre-conceived notion of the quality of the students based on their own associates at the firm who are alums, and from their overall perception of the school based on prior placements. While Cardozo is a fine school, it still attracts those who either were rejected t FLS.waitlisted but not admitted, or who turned down other non NY schools to enroll at 'Dozo w/ scholarship money...Either way, I still think paying full sticker for any of the non-T 14 is a complete GAMBLE in this current economic climate.
