Excellent Chiggins, lets cause some mayhem on the 29th.

So where's everyones undergrad? Anyone take some time off before law school?

I'm a chem major from Miami University in Oxford, Ohio. Grew up in Columbus. My girlfriend is going to grad school at massgen hospital (right down the T). Anyone else bringing along a significant other?

I'll be moving from across the country and my SO may or may not be moving at a later date. It depends on whether she'll give up her job, which she likes a lot, for the uncertainty of another (it's a tough choice when you actually have a job you like).

Only a few months left for WoW - I already gave my raiding guild notice. Gave my employer notice, gave my raiding guild notice; guess I'm committed now

I am originally from the Gulf Coast - about 1 hour outside of New Orleans into MS. I graduated May 2006 from the University of Mississippi in Oxford, MS. BA in International Studies w/emphasis in econ/business in Latin America. Also a Spanish major. Obviously, I took some time off. Since graduation I have been in the Republic of Panama working for a real estate development. Still here for now, and trying to make the final decision that I am really leaving to go to school.

My girlfriend is in her 4th year of a 5-year law school here in Panama. Their school year ends in December, and she may be leaving it and coming up to the U.S. at that point to join me.

I'm from Pennsylvania and am a senior at Lafayette College. I still haven't heard from BU since i sent my check. Has anyone? I noticed the other day that they still hadn't cashed my check. Anyone else?

Born in MD. MechE major at Virginia Tech. M.S. in MechE at Columbia University, and now currently living in Boston. My gf goes to dental school at Tufts located in downtown Boston, so BU was my top choice.

Gus-

I have no confirmation either, but I know they cashed my check!

I gave the nice lady at the admissions office a call and she let me know that they received my deposit. You should try giving them a call tomorrow.

Anyone know how many people they expect in the Class of 2011?

Work sucks no matter what job it is. At least in school it's not repetitive. As a lawyer we'll end up doing the same repetitive things as well.

Also congrats to everyone who got in. Looking around these boards you would think everyone is going to a top school. At my law firm I work, people are just trying to get into a Tier 2 or 3 school. Their lsat scores are nowhere near ours.

Yep. It's why I changed my major from political science to chemistry after my freshman year. that was a fun game of catch-up!

I have to assume that with a ME degree and asking that question that you'll be taking some IP courses with me?

Oh yeahhh. I am not wasting my undergrad and grad degree specializing in something else. Plus I think looking at different inventions is cool. How is the demand for a Chem major in patent law? I heard EE is in demand. ME, not so much. Was there a reason you didn't major in engineering?

I like seeing the sunlight. :o) I decided against going engineering because I didn't see any extra value in the engineering degree from a chemistry perspective compared to the amount of work required to make that leap. Besides, with the changing nature of biochem and biotech, I hope that a broader theoretical background will make me more adaptive in the job market.

Chemists see engineering as the only major tougher than ours lol

Are you guys living in allston, fenway, or somewhere else? I've been lookin on craigslist and i can't really tell if what I'm lookin at is a good deal or what.

It seems like alot of the listings are 2br splits. Does anyone know what that means?

Looks like I'll be at BU in the fall, woot woot. From Nashville TN originally, and I'm just a few days from graduating from University of Tennessee-Knoxville (Go Vols!) with a BA in Culture and Sexuality. Stoked about the change of scenery to Boston, but a little worried about culture shock; and by culture shock I mean the ass cold winter weather.

Gus-I've been looking for housing in backbay/beacon hill. Basically, east of BU on the green line. Really though, I have no clue. I've yet to go to Boston!

To answer my own question and to help out anyone else who may not know.... a 2 br split is an apartment that was originally a one bedroom with a living room that has been closed off and converted into a second bedroom. So essentially a 2br split has two bedrooms a kitchen and a bathroom and typically has some sort of small living area.

I feel old though. On fridays I rather relax in my apt than go out. Work is tiring. Everyone is going to be out in the bars while I prefer eating dinner with friends. I think people's energy level declines after mid 20s. I know mine has.

Depends, how is your energy level now? If you are naturally outgoing and always had a high energy level then you have a large reserve. My friend is like that and she is 30 years old. She has more energy than me. I on the other hand am a product of lackadaisical parents. For a large part of my childhood, my parents woke up around 8am, then eat out around noon, go take a NAP until 4pm, eat dinner, then sleep at 11pm. No exaggeration.

Anyone have any clues about the Boston housing hunt?
Because I live far away, I am making a special apartment-finding trip. However, I can't get up there until early/mid-July. Is that just going to be way too late to find anyplace?

I'm starting to get worried that I'll have to sign an 9/1 lease instead of an 8/1 because I won't be up there to sign early enough. I'm looking to live alone as close to campus as possible.

I'm not quite 22 and I'd rather go out for a long, nice dinner than to a bar too. And I've plenty of energy still! It's a lot to do with personality too I suppose.

Seriously? What are you waiting for?
