Has there been any homework assigned yet?

Re: Wake Forest class of 2011
I think we get our assignments on Friday, the 15th, when we pick up our packets. The 18th-22nd is all LRW form what I hear, and the actual classes start on the 25th. So we should have a week to get our books and do our assignment.

Very funny Lishi, I'm sure she is a nice cat. Does she try and bark too? Does she like dogs?lishi wrote:that happened to me a couple times when I tried to login to the email, but then it changed. Try your WIN password again and see now.
Thanks for the places to go. Maybe I'll take my cat to the park tomorrow. (yes I said my cat, she likes to sit on a leash in the sun eating ants)

It depends. If it's a calm dog or one that ignores her, she loves them!!! If they are excited to see her she acts like she is too good for them. And then she looks at them like if they are not careful she'll beat them up.mandingo wrote:Very funny Lishi, I'm sure she is a nice cat. Does she try and bark too? Also I found out what is happening the first day of orientation. I guess everyone will be picking up the packets, taking "professional pictures", and a computer orientation.
I won't be there on the first day but I'll be back for the first week.

This does not sound enjoyable, especially in 90 degree heat. Do we know what the pictures are for?lishi wrote:taking "professional pictures"

I get so excited every time I see the little orange note next to this thread.
I don't know what they are for, all she told me was what was going on that day and when I would make it up. Sorry.

Sounds like an invitation for inappropriate attire...or maybe it's just me being unoriginal.whenpigsfly wrote:This does not sound enjoyable, especially in 90 degree heat. Do we know what the pictures are for?lishi wrote:taking "professional pictures"

Is there any way to get on Blackboard before we get there? I'm vaguely familiar with it since my wife just completed her Masters. It'd be cool to see a syllabus before classes start.

So I talked to a woman in the registrar's office, and she says that although it says what section we are in, it is possible that it will change before school starts. She explained that as people drop out of the class, they have to rearrange the sections to make them even.

So that means I need to wait to buy my books? Hmm...I guess the casebooks would all be the same at least, just the supplements that would go with them.lishi wrote:So I talked to a woman in the registrar's office, and she says that although it says what section we are in, it is possible that it will change before school starts. From what I can tell Contracts and Torts all have the same casebooks, but CivPro, Crim, and LRW have different casebooks for different sections.

What section are you?? I hear that breaks are nice, because you can get some good studying in during that time.
I like my schedule because I don't start till 11 on Wednesdays and 10 on Fridays (good for possible Bar Review nights). But even though I have those breaks, I'd still probably keep my daily schedule of getting to school a little early to study.

Re: Wake Forest class of 2011
Worthless? I think it'd be nice to be able to duck down to the library or go over stuff from the previous class or for the next class. Hell, it might even be worth it to go outside or go into a different part of the building; all of my classes are in one of three rooms on the same hall.presidentoftheworld wrote:i hope my section gets changed, i dont like the 9am everyday and those worthless hour-long breaks throughout the day. then again they could all be like that...
As for class changing around, I'm going to check and see at the bookstore tomorrow if they have a policy for returning textbooks for a full rebate before X date (that falls approx. a week after classes have started). It was like that at my old UG. Hopefully it's common practice.

Re: Wake Forest class of 2011
Oh, and if you were planning on buy textbooks at the bookstore, this weekend is the time to do it. They still have some decent and relatively unmarked used books, and this weekend there is no sales tax on certain items.
--LinkRemoved--
Even if you are planning on buying your books elsewhere, you can still get clothes or computer stuff for less...just beware of the crowds.
They were also kinda wishy washy on their return policy. On the one hand, they said they'd help me out if my schedule got flipped around. On the other hand, they have a problem with people buying from them then turning around and finding it cheaper online. I think they'll help me out though?

Re: Wake Forest class of 2011
So quick question for anyone already set up in Winston.
Who is/are your cable and/or internet provider(s)? The apartment complex I'm moving into suggested Time Warner, but I wanted to know if anyone is happy with their service from somewhere else, or had a bad Time Warner experience.

I HATE (okay, maybe not hate anymore, but I used to really despise) time warner cable. Sadly, there is really only two options: Time Warner and Direct TV. That's right, no other cable options. Gotta love monopolies.whenpigsfly wrote:So quick question for anyone already set up in Winston.

Of course, you could get clearwire for internet, but everyone I know who's had it has spotty service. At least TWC is good when it's up. And then, when your introductory rate is over, you end up paying as much as TWC.
I stick with TWC because they cost much less for the bundled phone/internet/cable package, but I hate dealing with their customer service.

Re: Wake Forest class of 2011
I mean I haven't lived here as long as waytofail, but I have Time Warner and I really like them. They come later than the 1-3 they say, but then what cable guy is ever really on time. I had a problem with my cable within the first few days, and they sent someone out the next morning to fix it free of charge. I also got a DVR box, which I haven't had since high school and I LOVE it!! It makes me excited to know that I'll never miss an episode of Grey's or Lost this season because of school. The internet is good, and I've never had a problem with it since I've been here.
I forgot where you said you were moving to, but if it's one of the Crowne places I'm pretty sure they only allow Time Warner or Direct TV. But if you get DirecTV you have to place it on your patio/balcony and you may not get reception depending on which way your facing.
