Is anyone over the age of 28 living in the Lawyer's Club?

Maybe you're asking about people's future plans... but this year there are some people about that age living there.

Yeah, just really concerned that there will be very few people that are life experienced. I don't have anything against people just out of undergrad, but would like to have some people over 30... whenever I've asked for the breakdown of ages that lady in charge of the LC gets defensive and doesn't really answer the question.

It's definitely a crowd skewed younger than the rest of the law school, no doubt about it.

I just decided to commit to Michigan! So who else is a summer starter? (someone should really start a group on facebook!) Are there any plans so far to gather and hang out before orientation for those who are moving in early?

There is a facebook group, but you need to be a member of the Michigan network to join.Kathy wrote:I just decided to commit to Michigan! So who else is a summer starter? Re: U. of Michigan Law School '11
So like I said earlier, it's official that I'll be at Michigan in the Fall. But as of Friday, that will be the Fall of 2009. I was granted the deferral I asked for, and will be withdrawing on Monday from all remaining schools and committing to Michigan for fall of '09.
I'm really happy with this decision, and am so gratified that this process has worked this well and brought me to this point. More importantly. I am really happy that I had the opportunity to meet so many future classmates who were all wicked cool.
I'm so excited...and I'm going to look to all of you for pizza (Lothar), outlines, and FUN when I become a lowly 1L and all you cool people are beginning 2L.

Once you send in the initial deposit, you will be contacted to setup a uniquename. After you do that, you are set!Kathy wrote:How do I set up my Michigan email to join the Michigan network on Facebook?

When you set up your unique name, how many characters are you permitted to use?

Re: U. of Michigan Law School '11
Hi everyone,
Long time lurker here. Im pretty sure I'll be attending Michigan next fall (I'm deciding between Mich and UCLA). Ive lived in southern california all my life so the decision is really big for both me and my family. However, Im starting to lean much more heavily to Michigan because of some really great chats I've had with admissions people over there (Michigan faculty are ridiculously nice).
Anyways, Ive decided I have to visit before I decide. So I'm visiting this weekend and need a place to stay. Does anybody have any good recommendations for a place to stay (preferably as cheap as possible and as close as possible to the campus).

Well, the best hotel close to campus would be The Campus Inn, but it's not cheap. For less expensive, you'll want to try out by the mall, which is fine if you'll have a rental car.

To the summer starters: Viv, congratulations - it's about time! Kathy, welcome aboard - were you at the March ASW?
I'm a summer starter but I won't be able to move in until right before orientation. Damn, I committed to Michigan four months ago and I still have a desk full of pre-orientation paperwork to finish.

Is our confirmed attendance list up to date? I know there's more of us. (Actually, I'm not on the list
)
We must establish our TLS superpower status (look at the UVA list: http://www.top-law-schools.com/forums/v ... 17&t=18798 ). Dominance through numbers

Hey John. I went to the April ASW and fell in love with the school.
Has anyone heard anything about Ben-Shahari? I had Clark for a mock class and he's an amazing speaker - so I think torts should be great. I hear Contracts is a real tough course, though.

Re: U. of Michigan Law School '11
sorry. I'm pretty much done with TLS.
However I'll try not to shirk the responsibility of dealing with this thread.
as far as I know I need to add Lothar (fall) and Kathy (summer) and viv (summer).
Clark is THE MAN. Seriously.
Kathy, I'll answer your PM now too.
who else needs to be added?

thank you awesomepossum. you are awesome.
I looked back over this thread and the TLS Class of 2011 thread, and have these people to add to the list. I have not included some others who have posted in this thread who are going, but have not explicitly made an affirmative statement indicating accepted status (i.e., "It's official, I'm going" or "add me to the list, I'm going")....plus I need a reason to shamelessly bump this thread.

Does anyone know anything about White? For one - does he use the same textbook as Ben-Shahar? I just bought Studies in Contract Law which I was told by last year's summers was Ben-Shahar's textbook

Re: U. of Michigan Law School '11
JJ is Mr. Contracts. Literally. He was a reporter for some of the UCC, he wrote the textbook, he's probably the foremost expert in the nation on the UCC, plus he's 300 years old and keeps swearing that he's taught his last semester...you guys are really lucky to have him. He can be wildly inappropriate in class, but his students psychotically love him. I had his co-author (Frier), who was wonderful, but not quite as big a deal.
But no, he doesn't use the same book as Omri. He uses his textbook (as mentioned). It's The Modern Law of Contracts.
