I'm assuming you have numbers beyond/outside what's on LSN? Because LawSchoolNumbers.com does not corroborate this.

Applicants with 166s:

This cycle
68 applied
16 accepted (23.5%)
average GPA of those accepted: 3.86

Last cycle
48 applied
13 accepted (27.1%)
average GPA of accepted: 3.85

So the acceptance rate is down slightly, but the 166ers who got in were (numerically) about as good as they were last year. Basically, you need a 3.8 or 3.9 to get in with a 166, but I think we already knew that.

Hmmm. I have an accounting background and did not get invited. This whole thing is kind of odd to me.

Maybe they're just taking awhile to get out?
It took forever to get my NetID, they sent it to my old address first, and it was forwarded :(

We should be getting our big package of orientation information soon, right?

Wtf, ... I wasn't invited and my background is definitely NOT in polysci. In fact, I've never taken a polysci course ... ever. Maybe I should try and attend?

the lady listed only few of the criteria they used to invite ppl. but it basically sounded very random. i was going to head up there on the 23rd but i think it's good to get there early and settle in a bit before 1L officially begins! i also did a google search of the program's name and it's showed up listed as a orientation for minorities. i'm asian so i fit the description. what about everyone else invited?

If I were to judge the incoming 1Ls of Cornell based on Kn and Neskerdoodle's avatars, I think I'd run for the hill. Well... Kn's tar isn't that bad... actually nevermind... nothing's scarier than needles.

Seriously Joon-- I cant believe that came from you. Nesker and kn's are both a bit scary...but if I were judging based on yours...you certainly aren't upping the standards :-)

Thank God, I can see y'alls real profiles on facebook!

I got a macbook and a time capsule, primarily so I don't have to worry about backing it up all the time.

I'm so computer illiterate. I saw you mention time capsule on another thread and thought you were joking. Then I googled it... such a moron.

Anyway, I thought about going Mac, but am planning to stay with PC as it stands now--and my brother in law works for Dell, but I keep hearing bad things, but I dont have a lot of money as of now...so I'm just not sure what to do.

Edit: And I am not good at ending sentences.

I recently got a Lenovo T61... it's pretty good.
They had the ThinkPads for 40% off...
I was thinking about getting a Mac, but I realized I'd feel so helpless with a Mac since I know nothing about Mac.

So, if you dont mind me asking, about how much did it cost? How much memory do I need? I really want to get something lighter even though they cost more because I have back problems as it is.

Oh, and I think Vista is ok as long as you are buying a newer system with it. I think most of the problems stem from putting Vista on older machines. But I could be wrong.

I don't think vista with only 2GB RAM is a very good idea, but it will still run. If you want Vista, invest in some RAM and make sure all your peripherals are compatible first.

Seriously? What are you waiting for?

Now there's a charge.
