Yeah, anyone can do MAP... it used to be for minorities only, but now it's for anyone, and I think the mix was good. I think you probably could show up early to claim one, but it's really not that big a deal. They don't want people in the lawyer's club claiming them until after everyone else has had a chance to, because there aren't enough for every single student. But I don't know anyone who wanted one and didn't get one. And no, there really isn't that much of a difference in location. Maybe there are a few that will save you a few steps if you happen to be heading to some particular location, but it's not enough of a concern for me to bother changing mine from the one I have this year.Rayster wrote:Can anyone do MAP? I saw it mentioned above, but it wasn't very clear what it was, or who it was directed at. Could I just show up a week or so in advance to claim a "choice" locker? Are some really better?Alexandria wrote:mildmannered wrote:Rayster - I believe that they issue lockers during orientation
Yeah, we have lockers, and there are also locking coat hooks. They don't exactly issue them, though... you just go claim one by putting a lock on it and then filing a form saying which locker number, your name, and the combination.
So summer starters will have first pick, and then fall starters who do MAP are around a week before everyone else, so we mostly claimed ours then.

I claim the locker next to her:

as for the rest of the squad,

Who's the captain, I wonder?
and there seems to be a pretty equal girl/guy ratio on the squad.

Berkeley said no matching scholarship,
Yale told me "Screw You."
I looked at my financial situation, and

It's official.

EDIT: Check below for the updated schedule
arrrgh. The above schedule is now obsolete. Just wanted to tell you all. I'll make an updated change when I get around to it, if anyone wants.
The change to the schedule I noticed: The "small sections" for Section MNOP are no longer Criminal Law with Shapiro or Prescott in Fall 2008. MNOP's Small Section is now Torts with Hershowitz or Schlanger (visiting prof from WUSTL - noted prison researcher). Shapiro isn't on the schedule anymore for Crim Law. This changes a few things around the schedule that I'll look into later. There may be other major changes I haven't noticed yet.

While we're talking about sports, anyone thinking about intramural sports at Michigan?
They have the standard fare, basketball, soccer, and such. But how about:
Flag football:
http://www.recsports.umich.edu/intramur ... SportID=15
or Dodgeball:
http://www.recsports.umich.edu/intramur ... SportID=53
We could start a Law School dodgeball team!

i'm considering soccer, too.
But what are we talking about? We're not going to have any time.
On second thought, please submit your names if you're interested in joining the Law Class of '11 Drinking Team.

That name will be at least slightly humorous to you this time next year.

Re: U. of Michigan Law School '11
UPDATED 1L SECTION SCHEDULES (As of 4/24/08):
(to include JJ White for contracts, Summer session)
As mentioned earlier, the 1L schedule has changed since the one I posted last month.
I looked over the schedules, and it looks like the only changes made this month have been to Section MNOP. Changes from my schedules posted last month have been marked with ****
Looks like Section MNOP's schedule has been changed a bit to accomodate the 2 visiting professors from WUSTL - Professor Schlanger and her SO, Professor Bagenstos; this includes my previously noted change that MNOP's small section has been changed from Crim Law to Torts, and Prof. Shapiro won't be teaching the Crim Law section as previously noted. Oh yeah, and the MNOP Civ Pro Professor is now posted - it's Professor Margaret Chon from Univesrity of Seattle. MNOP has all the visiting professors!

Good point citric, I hope so too. I've updated the above schedule to show all visiting professors.
Looks like each of the fall sections will have at least one. Summer starters look to be visitor free (unless Prof Moran is a visitor - I don't know because no bio is posted yet)
