I didn't see NYU Law but you're supposed to pick New York University and then go the GRADUATE-LAW route.
The code for New York University is 00278500...the same code on law.nyu.edu's financial aid section.

VaultBound, thanks for your reply.

Let's say that the incentives change in July 2009. Is there a piece of paper that documents what the incentives were for the 2008-2009 academic year (i.e., prior to the change)?

I'm sure there's more than a piece of paper. You signed a contract through the e-MPN. You're fine.

You can get your NYU ID by going to home.nyu.edu and signing in and going to preferences. You need this ID for both direct deposit and the health forms.RexRegnat wrote:Anyone fill out the Direct Deposit form yet? Can we complete the from without the NYU ID?

You should do that this week because they said it should be done by July 31 to ensure that they are in place for the start of school.underdawg wrote:Are you talking about the bill or w/e we got e-mailed to us? I don't get it...I haven't even applied for all my loans yet...how does this work?

Re: NYU Law Class of 2011
For the plus loan application, why does it say the borrower is the parent? It has you put in borrower (parent) information and in the Borrower Request, etc section has you say that you are the parent. . . I clicked on the HESC plus spot that is for students, where have I gone wrong?
edit:
"18. B.
I am: (i) the biological or adoptive parent; or (ii) the spouse of a parent and my income and assets were reported on The Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) or would be reported if a FAFSA were filed."
This is on the first page of the eMPN under "Borrower Request, Certifications and Authorizations"

Re: NYU Law Class of 2011
Did you do a PLUS loan for undergrad? That ended up f-ing me and my parents for a year.
Basically the PLUS loan is the parent taking out a loan for the student. So your parent is the borrower and they will have the money directly against them (rather than as a co-signer).

No, I did not do a PLUS loan for undergrad. My understanding is that GradPLUS lets qualified students take out a PLUS loan without parental involvement.dbt wrote:Did you do a PLUS loan for undergrad? That ended up f-ing me and my parents for a year.

I have to do PLUS loans to qualify for LRAP.

Re: NYU Law Class of 2011
Hmm yeah I forgot PLUS doesn't stand for Parent Loan for Undergrad Students anymore. I'm gonna be doing GradPLUS too, so I'm concerned about this.
Maybe you should retry, trying to apply without a cosigner and entering only your own information. Then if you don't get it without a cosigner, add your parent as a cosigner.

Re: NYU Law Class of 2011
Well it will go through with only my information and no co-signer (it didn't even ask for any information except references), I just don't like signing something that says I am a parent by penalty of perjury.
Also, I thought that NYU's LRAP required plus loans, but after re-reading it looks like that might not be the case, but I know you need PLUS loans to take advantage of Federal IBR. Does anyone know if it's worth it to take out private loans and risk not being able to use the Federal IBR?
Is the difference between private and PLUS just variable vs. fixed interest rate?
Anyone else wanting to take advantage of LRAP? What loans did you get?

Nope. I heard if it's not postmarked by today they assume you aren't attending and give away your spot

Okay I figured out the parent thing, in the addendum it says that if you are a graduate or professional student all references to student or parent throughout refer to you.
