I am still stalling with the other place while I look for something closer (or at least on a bus line). Also, I am posting this from within the very walls of Myron Taylor Hall! (I am using one of the comps in the student lounge, where some dudes just finished some hearty-sounding lunches...)
They are doing all kinds of summer construction around campus, getting everything shiny for our arrival....
How difficult is it to find a place that allows dogs?
there are a handful of dog-friendly places, but me and the ladypal are pretty picky... And the more places I look at, the more inclined I am to suck it up and be ready to commute a little bit... The rental market here seems pretty one-dimensional (again, at least as far as poochables go)... sigh...
I did have some very helpful chats with different administratives, and I am a little less worried than I was before... Everyone else ready to move in?
After "ladypal" and "poochables", I'm convinced that 'Neskerdoodle' is the best name for you.

I didn't get that invite either, and if it was about an opportunity for students with lower numbers, my LSAT would have guaranteed me one.
Maybe they're just taking awhile to get out?
It took forever to get my NetID, they sent it to my old address first, and it was forwarded
We should be getting our big package of orientation information soon, right?

on my way home, I saw a coyote dragging a deer up a hill while other deer were watching at the top!

The letter was dated the 17th of June and reached me yesterday, and I'm in Chicago. If you are westcoast, I imagine it could take another couple of days.

Oh, ok. I'm used to seeing foxes and coyotes running around in the street here at night, so it wouldn't surprise me to see it there.

So I was bored so I ran our LSN numbers to get the 25ths to 75th ranges (yea, it's only 25 people). Is that weird? It is, isn't it. I'm weird. Shit.
Anyway if you're interested, they're 167-170 and 3.50-3.75. I'll admit the reason I did it was because a) I was bored (just to reiterate this point), and b) if LSN and TLS are any indication, I can't see any way that 166-168 will be the middle 50th range like it was last year.
What do you guys think? Surely I can't be the only person who's thought about this before.

You are not the only one. I did the LSATs too. And then I did quick comparison with peer schools and noticed we were beating Duke (mean-- I didnt check median).
So, no, definitely you are not alone.
Edit: and although this post makes me sound a little psycho-- I really don't think I am.

I saw Duke's, too. I think their Accepted - Attending pool on LSN is disproportionately represented by URMs from what I remember, which would skew the numbers a bit. I guess that's what we get for trying to compare samples of like 20 people.

Ah-- I didnt look that closely. I should not be a statistician clearly. I'm so not motivated at work anymore--so these are the things I occupy my time with.

Yea, these last few weeks in the office are pretty brutal. I find it almost impossible to stay focused. When is your last day? Mine is in mid-July.
And FWIW, 3 of Cornell's 25 attendees on LSN are URMs. So 12%. I don't know how that % would compare to what you'd find in a given entering class of 190 or whatever. Cornell's website says 25% of last year's class were minorities, but I'm assuming that included all minorities and not just URMs.

My last day is Aug 6. Then I'm in a wedding on the 9th--flying to Ithaca on the 10th for good. Not a lot of relax time.

No, not the bride. Just a bridesmaid. At the time, I thought Aug 9th would be plenty early enough to not stress me out. Since my husband starts orientation at Cornell on the 11th-- I was wrong. It is not a good time but too late to back out now.

I noticed the numbers are a bit higher than in the past as well. I think they realized that they got burned last year (median LSAT tied w/ UCLA and Vandy) and are making sure that doesn't happen again.

25 people on TLS isn't enough to assume anything.

Exactly. There are still like 170 kids out there we don't anything about.
I would only add that it I think it bodes well for the score profile of the class of '11 that pretty much no one has gotten off the waitlist (and when I say 'no one' I mean no one from LSN, TLS, or LSD). Couple with that with the corroborated 'rumor' that the class of '11 is overbooked at a little over 200 - and thus the school has more deposits from regular admits than it expected - and I don't think it's too much of a stretch to assume a slightly higher score range than last year. Of course, this last part could change depending on further WL action at higher-ranked schools, but considering the date (late June) I think this would be minimal.

Its not just the 25 people attending, its the fact that the number of 166s accepted has decreased dramatically.

i called the admissions office and asked exactly how they picked the ppl to invite, it seems like the program is targeted for students' whose ug background isn't in political science or pre law, minorities, as well as international students. the person i spoke to told me that they invited half of the class this year.
Seriously? What are you waiting for?
Now there's a charge.
