That's a general use carrel. Lots of schools (i.e. Iowa, W&L) actually give you your own carrel in the library where you can store your books and basically use as your own mini-office. It specifically said in the handbook that we couldn't do so.rezipsa wrote:Dadric wrote:I just wish we could get our own study carrels...

Probably for the best, it can get pretty loud in there when it's crowded. FWIW, when I did want to study in there I never really had a problem finding a place.Dadric wrote:That's a general use carrel. Understandable, I just really liked the idea of being able to leave your books, laptop, etc. at your own personal desk space in the library, and never having to worry about finding room.

You're going to need more room than those little carrels provide most of the time anyways. Plus you will have a locker. Don't sweat it.

Clayton is one of the popular neighborhoods. It's more for the trendy set, though. Lots of attorneys at happy hour there since there are a lot of the offices are down there. If that's your thing you will like it.

What about if your thing is laid-back, some walking around places to eat something interesting or grab a beer, groceries not too horribly far away?

Soulard fits what you want perfectly but is a bit of a trek to the school (~15 mins). U-City will work well but there are a fair amount of tourists/weekenders that go down there so it can get kinda crowded. CWE will also work for you but it's less laid back (relatively) than the other two.egrubs wrote:What about if your thing is laid-back, some walking around places to eat something interesting or grab a beer, groceries not too horribly far away?
Most students hang out in the CWE, U-City, Clayton and sometimes Washington Ave (downtown), Soulard, and Dogtown.

It is pretty sweet; they have a 2008 version as well! I picked up a hard copy when I visited but haven't seen a link for it on their website. Then again, I haven't looked very hard.

Yeah, I was just looking for that, but couldn't find it. Hopefully they will get it up sometime. Can't freaking wait to be there.NDray wrote:It is pretty sweet; they have a 2008 version as well! WashU sent an e-mail about a month ago with forms for loans. One of the forms was entitled "Excess Title IV Funds Usage Authorization Form" used to allow the school to just withhold parking fees, SBA dues, etc. instead of cutting me a check and then having me give them the money right back. On this form it asks for Student ID; what did you all put on that line since as far as I am aware we have not been issued student IDs yet?

Hmm.... I'm not sure I have that e-mail, so I can't help you out at all, but perhaps this minor bump will allow someone else who does know to help.rhit2004 wrote:WashU sent an e-mail about a month ago with forms for loans. I received it on April 29th. I placed my deposit really early so they may have just had me at the top of a list when they started going through financial aid things.smc5784 wrote:Hmm.... I actually got a packet in the mail concerning my financial aid award and such. And there was nothing in there like that form you speak of. Maybe I just overlooked it, though. Were these other loan forms in the e-mail your financial aid award information, or were they aid application information?rhit2004 wrote:I received it on April 29th.
