I'm going to be about .5 mile from the edge of campus, but about 1.5 to the law school.

That's a bit of a walk. Are you planning to drive in during winter? If so, do we get free parking spaces near the law school building?

You'd think that the school can accomodate 180 parking spaces with the amount of tuition that we pay, especially at the graduate level...

There's a bus. I don't mind the cold. Bundle up!
Also, you can buy a package of one day parking passes, for those days when you just can't ride the bike, walk, take the bus, whatever. 1.5 miles is only a 25 min walk.

All I need is a cup of hot chocolate from Starbucks to endure the most chilly winter, and thankfully, Starbucks is rather conveniently located. Gooo corporate coffee company that puts WAY too much caffeine in its coffee!

I'm going to be about a mile west of campus, not sure what neighborhood that falls in. Get to hike up that mountain to campus, though I think there's a TCAT stop nearby.

I'm only .8 miles from the school. A direct shot down the hill through Collegetown. I'm not in Collegetown though.

I think I win the distance so far. I'm gonna be about 2 miles from campus, bout 2.6 from the law school. I'm living north of campus. But there is a TCAT bus every 15 minutes at my complex that will drop me right by the law school. And for first year- new to Cornell- students the bus is free all year

Is anyone leaving in a "house," as in one of those numerous rented properties down the hill?

Yah dogs are allowed--but we bought our place--its a condo. I do think there are some apartment units next door to the condo complex.

Yup, I am. I snagged the top floor of a house that's a two minute walk from campus! Basically, the top floor is like an apartment within the house. I'll be living with two other 1Ls. Woooordjoonbug wrote:Is anyone leaving in a "house," as in one of those numerous rented properties down the hill?

I think there are parking forms/prices on the New Students site?
I'll be putting up $600 for parking on campus next year, as I'm living in Hughes (which sounded like a great idea at first-no walking in the cold, fine to walk back after a late night of studying, not having to deal w/ finding an apartment in an area I don't really know, etc. now-it seems like a not so good idea, the thought of living in dorms again is not fun--oh well).

I few of us had a local brew at The Chapter House, that grive dive bar near MTH that has the free bowls of popcorn. The beer was actually pretty phenomenal. Could've been Ithaca Beer...retasu wrote:I'd be down for a meet up before school starts. There are some great bars downtown, and I'm also willing to offer my place up to hang out as well. Ideas?
But speaking of drinking, anyone tried Ithaca Beer? I can't wait to sample some new microbrewery deliciousness.

Re: Cornell Law School 2011
Yea. Like for a lot of us here, it's a "studio apartment" inside a house in Collegetown. I'm happy because the landlord only rents to other law students so I think it'll be a good atmosphere and whatnot. From what I gather, most "apartments" in Collegetown are really just particular floors of a multi-story house that have been repurposed into individual units.joonbug wrote:Is anyone leaving in a "house," as in one of those numerous rented properties down the hill?

My husband tried some of the Ithaca beer and said it was pretty good.

Yes, same as everyone else, I'm just not a fan of how they do it. I just like the yourname@school.edu thing. Last Name, first intial...no numbers or anything.woeisme wrote: Isn't it just your initials with numbers??
Oh well, at least it's here, and I can set stuff up now

And I guess I'm not the one that will be having to remember my email address.
Anyone played around with the portal thing yet?
