Craziness, seriously????Wellsfargowagon wrote:Statistically, there's a good chance that at least two of us will be paired up. Like how in a kindergarten class of 30, odds are surprisingly high that at least two children will share the same birthday, counterintuitive as it sounds.
P.S. I like how there are a million different UVA threads on the homepage of TLS.

Welcome to Virginia! Even NoVa/Charlottesville's staunch opposition couldn't stop the "traditional marriage" constitutional amendment here either (passed by about 60% in 2006, I think), nor the "Affirmation of Marriage Act" back in 2004. *sigh*Wellsfargowagon wrote:Unfortunately, my 2004 ballot didn't stop the darn state from approving its gay marriage amendment by a 75/25 margin...
Arlington Court is decent enough. When you are that close the convenience is what you are paying for, not the amenities...

I've visited a few Arlington Court units, and while they weren't too impressive, they were definitely liveable. Rents vary based on the individual owner.
And that's awesome about Oregon's mail-in voting system. The state of Ohio could learn a thing or two.

Obamamania AT UVA Law - like two black holes colliding.
And yeah, we seem to have done a mighty fine job of hijacking the TLS front page.

I couldn't believe it when something similar happened in oregon, since we're considered so liberal. if it wasn't for that not-portland part...MissVirginia wrote:Welcome to Virginia! Re: UVA Class of 2011 Housing Thread
I'm split between getting my own 1br and sharing a 2/3br.
Huntington Village looks like a good option: much nicer than Ivy and yet next door, so one could still stumble home from Ivy. Plus they're townhouses with all bedrooms on the 2nd floor, which could make studying easier.
Also considering Ivy and Arlington Road.
A clean apartment is good but nothing to go crazy over.
Outside of studying, good uses of time = television (sports and a few of the better series), drinking, home games of poker, tennis, golf, wii/xbox.
I'll have a car but don't want to live too far away.
I am, like my colleagues in this thread, a politics/government junkie.

Re: UVA Class of 2011 Housing Thread
anyone up for splitting a 3 bedroom at huntington village?
i'm still looking mainly into a 2br with ivy gardens, but my main priority it getting an application by next week. i don't want to drag my feet and move further behind other applicants.
i'm 21, a non smoker, fairly clean and quiet person. easy going and i don't party too much. i have a car, but i'd rather not drive.

are you talking about a three bedroom for three people or a three bedroom for two people so that you have an office?greygoose wrote:anyone up for splitting a 3 bedroom at huntington village?

3 bedroom, 3 people
i guess i'm a bit different coming from undergrad...i study in front of my own desk so would probably never use an office/den. i actually need people to force me into the library come law school. i do realize i get things done much more quickly, but i've never utilized it...

You will only see me in the library between classes - I study best in my apt. But i need an office, because i hate having my desk in the rooms where i sleep or relax - psychologically menacing. I can't wait to not have roommates!!!!!!!!!!! I love my girls, but i need some space!greygoose wrote:3 bedroom, 3 people

Is it because he is the only candidate that has a bigger penis than Hillary?

I am 22, non-smoker, love to play sports and workout, cards, have small get togethers, and an somewhat of a political junkie. I am a little bit on the quiet side and a clean apartment is nice but I do not mind a little uncleanliness.
I am interested in ivy gardens/huntington village. I think it would be a good idea to have a basement in the village (no particular reason just that I am from an area where there are no basements and it has a novelty factor to me). As far as drinking is concerned I like it but I am not interested in six day a week binge sessions. More like 2-3.
Pet peeves include constant loud music during the day.

Boy, you and me both. I have two roommates right now, and while things have gone smoothly between me and them these past two years, I'm quite eager to have an apartment all to myself.cantwaitforuva wrote:You will only see me in the library between classes - I study best in my apt. So would anyone be interested in a 3 bedroom in The Woodlands? or a 2 bedroom at the Grand Marc?

Yes - But it's the same 8 or 9 people that are posting. Surely there's gotta be more TLS-ers at UVA next year. Anyone have a comprehensive list? I knwo someone did something similar for the Michigan thread...sialeeds wrote: P.S. I like how there are a million different UVA threads on the homepage of TLS.

Sockpuppet's thread might have that listed - the one that lists where everyone is attending if you let him know where you were headed...
