I bought Office home and student and it came with one note so I'm going to try and use it.

I seriously have so much junk at work.

Word's notebook layout doesn't do everything I want it to do...I'm going to get the free trial of Circus Ponies Notebook thing and see if I like that. Circus Ponies creates multiple indexes for everything you put into it and it seems pretty powerful. I just am not sure how it prints out yet, which is why one note might work better.

You are all addicted to this forum.

I wish I could stay away as well.

I have to back up Val here, Notebook from Circus Ponies fulfills everything I might need. I have never used OneNote, so no comparison there, but I would imagine that the linking between pages and tabs works just as well.

Ren, I don't have Office '08. 2004 is the geek way to go my friend. By all accounts it stands as the Mac classic for Office Suites. Though it has some of the workings you were talking about, it isn't advanced enough for a meticulous studier, which I hope to become.

And, don't hate on your Macs, people... God cries every time you do.

Maybe that is a stretch...

I'm sure it's a good program. I've already got the hang of onenote though, so I'm gonna be sticking with that until there is some reason for me to change. I figure, just go with what works for you.

Re: Alvisos
Renwoshin, Just saw your post. I went to undergrad at Santa Clara (loved it!) and saw you're living at Alvisos. Great houses and awesome location, but I hope you know this is (or at least was in 2004 when I graduated) an epicenter of undergraduate college partying. Just make sure to pack some earplugs!

REALLY long but interesting.
The sum:
A guy was in prison for murder for 3 years then was cleared by DNA evidence and released. Finished college, starting Santa Clara Law this fall with us!!

It's a good read. Very honest. I'm excited to meet him!

ok i played around with onenote for like an hour yesterday and it is like 100x better than word notebook layout. the main difference is that in word, you have to organize all the notes yourself but in onenote, all your notes are together and easily accessible. there are also a lot more shortcuts in onenote that make taking notes really easy.

Have you tried the program that Val and I were talking about? I am curious what the side by side is, so that if need be I can get OneNote.

hahaha sjk... yes that's what i have to deal with too.... (but i still love my mac)

ancorso, IMO onenote >>> circus ponies notebook. I see circus ponies notebook on the level of MS Word Notebook Layout View. I actually personally like Word Notebook Layout View better than Circus whatever notebook, which is confusing and hard (for me) to use.

In onenote, i really like the fact that you can type anywhere. it also uses space very efficiently, so you can create notes really easily and you just feel organized by using it. Word/Notebook can't type anywhere, and it still feels really scattered because you don't have the big picture view that one note gives you.

looks like i'll just be using windows on my macbook just for onenote....

I'm moving from Houston, TX. Anyone else out there moving from far off places? (no....socal doesn't count!)

UGH so I'm super frustrated and confused.
FOr those of you with Macbooks...how is the windows partition working for you? Is anyone running VMware with it?

I am really confused and debating selling my laptop to my little brother and buying a PC of sorts....But I'm still confused.
Anyone got an opinion?

I'm starting to like my macbook now. I generally run it in windows mode but sometimes switch over to mac mode. I haven't really had any problems with either but all my good programs (office, photoshop) are xp versions so I use windows a lot more. My plan for the school year is to run my school stuff (notes, outlines, etc) 100% on windows, and on the weekends or during my free time use the mac side. Thus, keeping school separate from leisure time.

That was my plan too but it gets reallllllyyyyy annoying to have to completely shut down the computer before restarting so I want to get VMware so I can run windows as a virtual machine.
I dont know. I'm frustrated.
