Regarding underdawg's post above, I've seen and talked to a lot of NYU people who seem to think that the program will be making great strides in the field of academia. I was pretty impressed with the plans they have.

Thoughts?
Where'd you find those? The one's I see have 2.5-3.0% origination fees...

I went through the bank websites last night, off of a financial aid website link. Most of the fees are 2.5%-3%, but some of the lenders offer no origination fees according to the sites. Wachovia seems to have a new plan that does this, though the website says mixed things, and then I saw the Nellie Mae with the rebate down the road...

Everything I start looking at this stuff I feel a sense of dread and panic. It is soooo much $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$!
just talked to nellie mae. they're not even offering federal loans anymore. it seems that most of these websites are outdated... aargh.

I checked with the Wachovia people today. It seems that they are still in the game.

I've noticed a couple of you have mentioned roommate assignments--how do you know who you're paired up with? I got the "here's your room number" e-mail, but it lacked any roommate info.

good thing senator mccain has a back-up plan, but he'll need to do a lot of cramming to learn a whole semesters worth of materials between november 8th and finals.

Hmm...mine just stopped after phone number. Maybe I don't have a roommate yet.

Thanks!

Just a hunch...maybe you're in a single?

McCain is just passing on living in the White House.

Figured I would do my part in balancing the blue tide in the Village. SOMEONE has to mitigate the Obama-love that's bound to explode in the Fall.

That would be nice...a Mercer F-suite all to myself. No, I called this afternoon and they said roommate information would come later. How much later, I have no idea. Was there a significant lag between receiving your room assignment and receiving your roommate info?

Anyone know of a pub near NYU to watch the Euros at?

Financial Aid FYI:

Assuming:
-Received the big $0 in your award letter
-Use $20,000 from summer employment from both summers for following year's expenses
-Take out max in Stafford and GradPLUS (after applying $20,000 from above)
-Take advantage of all incentives offered
-Keep your loans for their full life (10 years; not as important but still involved in the calculation)

Total paid to receive $157,230 from Wachovia: $246578.88
Total paid to receive $156,924 from Citibank: $268,219.20

Savings with Wachovia : $24,640.32

Thought I'd share the info. Enjoy the debt.

Edited for clarity.

We don't need to do the entrance interviews from mappingyourfuture.org right? I guess we just do that stuff at school? Just at the end of the HESC process it sent me there but I didn't see NYU on the school list.
