I know. I cant believe the climbing walls have an extra fee in addition to the gym membership.

Yeah, but the gym membership + climbing wall is still cheaper than a membership to the climbing gym where I live. Those places are expensive!LeahNic wrote:I know. I cant believe the climbing walls have an extra fee in addition to the gym membership.

this is true. I'm just spoiled from my UG. I am excited about the gyms though!

Re: Cornell Law School 2011
for those of you that have not signed on to the newstudents.cornell.edu site to do health forms--just an FYI, the deadline for submitting the gym membership form is July 10th, and you can do that through the site too (it's actually pretty easy to navigate!)
gym membership=another 140 dollars to spend...::sigh:: I agree with LeahNic--my undergrad spoiled me--gym usage=free (though, not exactly a stellar gym, to be honest).
Does anyone know...do classes like horsebackriding cost an additional fee on top of the membership?

I don't know, but I'd be very surprised if they didn't. Make friends with a vet student instead. It's cheaper. Shit, you can ride mine if you let me have your outlines.CampbellRh wrote:for those of you that have not signed on to the newstudents.cornell.edu site to do health forms--just an FYI, the deadline for submitting the gym membership form is July 10th, and you can do that through the site too (it's actually pretty easy to navigate!)

Is it sad that I am excited we get to send our own picture in for our ID card as opposed to taking one there?

Re: Cornell Law School 2011
$140/year is a helluva lot better than the rate I pay for a mega-chain gym membership here in DC. True a lot of colleges don't charge at all (mine didn't when I was an UG), but if you view it as a comparison to 'real world' memberships it's pretty darn good.

My teacher/the eq. coach at my undergrad is good friends with the Cornell coach--I might have to go that route! But, I'll keep your offer in mind, though it's hardly fair-riding could be my sanity with the stress of law school, and my outlines would hardly provide sanity, I'm sure.kn6542 wrote: I don't know, but I'd be very surprised if they didn't. Any LeahNic-I'm also excited I get to choose my picture...so, if it's sad, at least you have company!

Re: Cornell Law School 2011
P.S. Are you guys using your current (personal) email address to sign up for this stuff? I feel like I'd prefer to use my CU email address for this, but alas I still do not have one.

I'm using my personal one as well. Seeing as the health forms are due on 6/13, and who knows when we'll be getting our email addresses, I figured I really had no other choice?KidA23 wrote:Heh ok, I just wanted to make sure I wasn't the only person in the world who hadn't received their Cornell email addy yet.LeahNic wrote:I've been using my personal one. And I want my new email address already! I'll be using my undergrad one until I get it

Come wintertime, jogging outside isn't going to be much of an option, I guess, so I might as well just sign up for the campus gym. Looks decent enough from the pics. $140 sure beats the $80 for 5 nights a week that my former gym down the street here charged.
Re: medical forms
Is the June 13 deadline for the online form only, or does the snail mail version need to be postmarked by then?
I went to the doctor on Monday and he informed me that this country (Japan) does not have a meningitis vaccine. WHAT?
Guess that's another thing I'll have to look forward to when I move back to the States. That and a TB test.

You don't need a meningitis vaccine. It's not mandatory, and it's pretty pointless if you aren't living in a dorm or an army barracks.

Ok, for those interested who like me didn't know, the class is divided into 6 sections lettered A-F. so that means about 33 ppl per section. So nice and small, isn't that lovely.
Is anyone prepping?

As for prepping, not really; I will probably read Planet Law School and Getting to Maybe and leave it at that. A friend gave me a few of his old E&Es and a hornbook or two, and after skimming literally one page in one of them, I immediately envisioned myself getting burnt out on the stuff if I were to spend ANY time over the summer 'learning' torts or civ pro or whatever. I see why so many current students advise against spending any time with the actual course material prior to enrolling. You'll just get so much of it from September through December that I can't imagine looking at it myself in July or whatever would do anything but make me sick of it by the time classes begin.

I don't really plan on prepping. I might read a book or two. I also think it would burn me out too fast. But being on this site makes me feel like I will graduate in the bottom 5% if I havent prepped.

Re: Cornell Law School 2011
Hm, might go check my mail for the ID, though I doubt it's here yet. And yes, I would not make a good double agent, I'm way too open and honest. As my step-father LOVES to point out, this means I won't make a good lawyer.
settling on Cornell though, I think it probably doesn't matter much if you "know" who I am. Especially as I don't intend on being an ass to anyone.
His (my step-dad's) favorite lawyer joke: "there is really only one lawyer joke, all the rest are true stories".....and I've heard it from him maybe a dozen times. VERY funny. Personally I prefer his second favorite, "What do you call ten lawyers at the bottom of the ocean? A good start."
