Wow, that's cutting it close!
Luckily, I'm able to move down pretty early 'cause I'm not gonna work this summer. It'll give me a chance to get settled, buy pets (

), get to know the area, paint, etc.

Well at least I'll get to work til the last second so more $ for me. It'll be a little weird to have settle in quickly but it's not like I'm not used to it. Undergrad was always move-in a few days before classes started. Not to mention I'll have 3 TLS people with me so at least we'll all be in the same situation.

I guess I'm not as lucky, since my admissions letter + scholarship offer were not enough for Avemore to approve me without a co-signer. My credit score is solid and hasn't created any problems for me at the other places where I submitted an app, and I had already informed them that I had no proof of income or rental history. I was really into the office/sunroom unit they offer, but whatever. I think my wife and I will be signing at Stone Creek.
I just signed with Avemore and they will accept proof of loans. If you have a print out from BofA or some other lender, that is all they require. Why didn't you go the co-signer route? It's not that difficult, just have a parent fill out an apt. I agree it's annoying but if you really liked the place it's not a huge deal.
I agree that it's not a huge deal, but I was going back and forth between Avemore and Stone Creek anyway, so signing without a co-signer at the latter is a plus. I loved Stone Creek's location, but Avemore seemed to offer more bang for the buck. Pros and cons both ways.
And I think I'm moving in on the 15th or 16th, but I'm in DC, so it's kind of close anyway.

That makes sense. The 15th or 16th of August? That's intense. I'm in DC, too, but I need a while to move and get set-up.

My plan as of right now is to move everything down on the 15th or 16th, attend orientation, and then unpack gradually in the two weeks between orientation and the first day of classes. I have to admit though, I haven't taken too thorough of a look at the stuff that's planned between the two dates, though I'm sure there has to be something. I might change plans and come earlier if necessary.
EDIT: So yeah, I guess I was still on the Georgetown academic calendar. So an earlier move in date is probably in order.

Depending on your situation, they might let you sign without a cosigner.. or at least that was the impression I got from my conversation with them. They said my lack of a rental history was a problem, so if you have some sort of rental history, you might be able to sign yourself. Also, although I have a pretty high credit score, my score has been built up mostly through Banana Republic/Gap cards that I rarely used, so that might have been a red flag for them as well.

Can't you just have one co-signer for the two of you?

I hate to tell you this, but there aren't two weeks between orientation and classes. Orientation is August 18-19 and classes start on the 20th. So no break whatsoever.

Yeah, I just realized I was confusing dates with Georgetown. I guess the 16th would make it pretty intense. I'm gonna aim for the 13th or so hopefully. I think Avemore would have been a problem anyway, since the move-in date they gave me was the 16th "at the earliest".

I didn't realize that Avemore already had numbers for August. I know tkm was thinking about moving then. Do they have any 2br units available?
Not sure about the 2 bedrooms, I was looking at the one bedroom office/sunroom unit. They had one that wouldn't be ready until the 20th, and another one that wouldn't be ready until the 16th, I believe. They seemed pretty firm on these dates.
