That username/password should be in either an email from the school or your admit package. You'll get a real username/password at orientation. The fall course list won't be accessible on the admit site, btw.

Lol, yep, I just figured that out. Where is the fall course list then? I couldn't find it on the website, but maybe I wasn't looking in the right places.

The course list is on CAESAR (NU's financial aid/grades/etc. site). There's not a lot that'll be of interest to incoming 1L's (you'll be assigned profs), but the 1L courses are included in the bidding list.

Personally, I preferred torts. Of course, I ended up with a better grade in property. Torts is, if not easier than property, waaaaay more fun. The fact patterns are just nuts from squib tosses to drunken horse riding decapitations and hickeys on the run , the class is batshit crazy.

Looks like everyone will have civ pro and contracts in the fall (Nzelibe has 2 sections), and then it depends what section you're in for the other two. Sec. 1 has torts (shapo) and property (lindgren). Sec. 2 has torts (speta) and crim (altschuler). Sec 3 has crim (nadler) and property (cameron). Sec. 4 pretty fortunate in that they got Redish (cp) and Rubinowitz (crim) plus torts (tba).

Okay, now I reeeeeeeally want to know my section.

Yup. You'll find out both your main section and CLR section numbers on the first or second day of orientation.

All of those sections look pretty nice, though I just finished a semester of Cameron's property class and think it'll be a pretty rough way to start law school. If you've got him, make sure you've read the material (he's going to pick one person to talk to for pretty much the entire lecture). I disagreed with him about some of his positions (he's big on econ as a normative basis for the law, I am not), but he was always really nice outside of class and put up with my disagreement. If he seems really intimidating, just talk to him after class; he's actually a totally different person outside of lecture.

The only professor I know of who bottomed the curve last fall is not listed.

I feel like every one of these sections has bright spots as far as its lineup of professors. I really don't think there's a "bad" section among them -- just another reminder that NU has a ton of top-shelf teaching talent. Also, we could access our schedules last summer around mid-August if I recall correctly (they just appeared one day, and people had been looking periodically). You'll need your NET ID and password for CAESAR, but you get those via e-mail before school.

Yuck--such big gaps between classes. I'd much rather just go straight through classes, get done earlier, and then have a big block of uninterrupted time for studying.

The big gap on MTW is actually pretty awesome. Between 12 and 2:30 you're going to have a ton to do. There will hardly be a day going by without a lunch lecture or special event. By forcing all the 1L's to have that break, the school ensures that 1L's don't try to get a big block of classes and find their schedule conflicting with all the amazing speakers coming in. If you decide that these things aren't for you, you'll have more freedom to schedule spring semester.

If you make the effort, you can probably get a free lunch nearly every day this fall. They usually come with a really, really cool talk.
