On board to attend or buy into the culture? All they have to do is match/near match the 60K offer from Duke and I'm definitely attending. If they refuse, then I guess I'll have an interesting choice to make. As for the culture, that'll never happen.SgtBilko wrote:alright guys, time to get nip and gladiator on board.

also up now is the admitted students forum. Log into admit web and click the 'law forum' tab at the top. Its pretty limiited in activity on there now but there are a few people looking for roommates, someone trying to set up a DC meet up for happy you or (wink wink
).
At least worth a look if youre not averse to dorky internet message boards
Edit: theres also some mac related advice from the dedicated IP woman that lays out what you need/can expect by getting or bringing a mac. Of course there are 4 questions on there, all what happens to my new macbook.

I'm not officially on board but I've been probably on board since 2005. There's a good chance it'll be official in the very near future.

So peeps who have already checked out C-ville: How far is this elusive mall I'm hearing about? My number 1 priority in law school is to avoid DUIs and I'm really hoping for a drunken stumble distance
Side note: Does the mall have a decent food court?

Which mall are you talking about? Downtown Mall or Fashion Square Mall?
Downtown Mall is not actually a mall, it's an open-air plaza. Fashion Square Mall is crap, it may not even have a food court. The Corner, which is also not a mall, has a lot of restaurants/food court like options and is closer to the law school. Barracks is a shopping center with 2 supermarkets, a few restaurants, and a bunch of food court options (Taco Bell, McDonalds, etc) and is only a few minute walk away from the law school.

The closest collection of bars is the Corner, which is just off the undergrad campus and about 1.5 miles from the law school. Definitely walkable.
When going to / stumbling from the downtown mall or even the Corner, it's customary to take cabs. Taxi fares in Charottesville are ridiculously, ridiculously cheap, and several of my friends are on a first-name basis with several cabbies who can be called on a whim.

Wow. Weird how one day can change things. Yesterday I would have said that I am not in. Now I'd say that I'm back into consideration. Decisions, decisions.SgtBilko wrote:are you in, guy? Or still waiting on $?
Nice little scholarship today has me thinking about how much I like C-ville...

That's awesome, Goose! Could there be love for any more of us ED folks? Guess we'll find out later today.

yea i guess they might be sending the love around. i like the administration more and more. they could easily screw all the ED-ers with no scholarship and instead offer lots of loans. they could use the extra $ to woo other candidates that are undecided. but, they are classy!
30K less loans!

Sorry...a little tounge in cheek reference to the confusion I had when I first looked at craigslist and saw how everyone was touting how close to 'the mall' thier house was, which I found to be unbelieveably lame. Untill I found out what it actually was...mea culpa. mea culpa

So how embarrassing is it that we lost to the Bradley Braves at home yesterday to get knocked out of the College Basketball Invitational?
Hopefully, next season doesn't involve so many agonizing close losses.

I'm a little worried about the large amount of Virginia Tech clothing that I own, should I attend UVA.

I wouldn't worry about it that much, the hatred doesn't seem to be close to Ohio St/Michigan or Duke/UNC.

Doing the "hokie pokie" at the mall could be troublesome though...
