Also, thanks for this info! I have some new-found hopebamabreeze wrote:Ok so the Vandy OCI brochure I'd been using disappeared (maybe all for the best because they STILL haven't decided on me, which is as good as a waitlist) but they are Bradley Arant Rose & White (the Southern Living one, I think they also have a contract with Coca-Cola) and Maynard Cooper & Gale (photos of their receptions suggest the interns/attorneys are also fun people). I seriously need a new hobby... but I don't study anymore, and Monday is generally not an acceptable night to go out

I would think you may need to ask before the loans since the maximum you can take is the school approved budget. That way, they increase it and then you ask BoA, or whoever, for the new increased amount. Basically, I think you had it right.Nike6075 wrote:Two questions:
If i'm going to ask the fin. aid office to increase my COA budget after I get a new computer, I need to wait until then to apply for these loans, right? Because the bank won't just arbitrarily increase the amount of the loan later on, will it?
Do I want want to/does it make any sense that I can afford to pay interest on unsubsidized loans while I'm in school?
Thanks
haha, Very true. I'll be back though!gladiator wrote:A watched pot never boils.RATRATRAT wrote:ooohhh!! The plot thickens!
Biglaw, obviously. And the second part makes sense, but i'd simply be paying the interest with borrowerd money. Seems silly.SgtBilko wrote:I would think you may need to ask before the loans since the maximum you can take is the school approved budget. Interest on Stafford would be $850 for 1L (12,500 x .068, correct?) and on GradPlus ~3k (for me 34k x .085). So, if you don't need the 4k, working that down ASAP isn't a bad idea. Then again, I think you can get forbearance until graduation, correct? In which, case, I think I'd keep the $ on the assumption that I will begin dealing with all of this in 3 years. I think your career plans would come into play at that point.
EDIT: Keep in mind, I was asking YOU for advice last week, so WTF do I know

I'm think that you might be able to increase it later. I'm probably going to get my COA increased for medical reasons and Fin Aid said they couldn't do it until late Summer, but I doubt they expect me to do loan apps last minute. I'm going to email them about this later today and then I'll get back to you.Nike6075 wrote:Two questions:
