Fill out Fasfa now?
Hey,
Do I fill out the Fasfa before I hear decisions from Law Schools? I've applied to more than ten schools, so how do I do this since the Fasfa only lets you choose ten schools at a time?
Thanks

Re: Fill out Fasfa now?
Yes, fill out now. Once you finish your fafsa and submit it to 10 schools, you will get an email in a couple of days notifying that your info. has been processed and sent out. After you receive this email, you go in your SAR report (there is a link to it in the email) and you delete the schools you added the first time and add the new schools in, and then resend it. If you are applying to more than twenty schools, then you do the same process over again for a third time.

why not wait until after you file your tax returns?
are you guys basing it solely on w2's and then will edit after your taxes are filed?

Do you think that waiting until 2/15 to submit will put the aid we receive at a huge disadvantage?

I filled out my FAFSA Jan. 2nd and I'm doing my taxes this week. I'll edit the information based on the new taxes. I used info. from previous years.

Re: Fill out Fasfa now?
I just filled out my FASFA. The confirmation page said my expected contribution is X amount of money. (which I won't have since I wont be working as I do now)
While I was filling out the FASFA I saw nowhere to put that my income (since I am an independent) drop from my income now to $0 per year.
Did I miss this area to put that my income next year will be $0? Or is there something else to fill out to clairfy that I will not have an income next year?
Thanks for your help!!

Re: Fill out Fasfa now?
Hi guys,
I am new to this - how are you filling out the fafsa before filing your taxes? I thought you needed the 2008 tax form in order to fill out fafsa and need access. My biggest problem is that the mailing date for mutual funds, etc was extended to Feb 15th, so my mutual fund isn't giving me form 1099 until Feb 15th, which is a big problem since many schools want you to have already filed your fafsa? One school I am likely to attend starts giving out financial aid on Feb 15th, so I feel like I'm behind by waiting until getting form 1099. Anyone know?
THANKS!

If I have absolutely no income (student) am I correct when I filled it out and it says zero pretty much everywhere? Do I need to disclose any help with expenses I got from my parents?

Re: Fill out Fasfa now?
It looks like I'll be getting in my FAFSA and Need Access forms just under the March 1 deadline (that's the deadline for at least one school on my list). Do you know how long it takes FAFSA or Need Access to process my forms? Do I need to press "submit" a week before? Thanks!

It is usually transmitted to the indicated universities over night.

So I just submitted my FAFSA, but I'm not familiar with the procedure. Do I just wait until it is processed, after which the schools I selected receive my SAR and EFC? Will the schools tell me what I'm eligible for then?

Exactly, schools usually send out financial aid packages around April.a male human wrote:So I just submitted my FAFSA, but I'm not familiar with the procedure. ...except Hastings requests a Need Access application as well ($28 to find out if you qualify for aid
