I am an enrolled student planning on entering Columbia this fall. However, I have been given the option to defer for a year in exchange for an additional $60k in aid. Is this worth delaying my career for another year? I feel like I am ready to move on, and would have to figure out what to do for the next year, but lowering my debt by $60k would indeed be very nice.
What should I do?

I would take the deferment only if I was already in a job I liked in a location I liked where I could just seamlessly continue in that job for another year before starting law school. But I'm less debt averse than other people on TLS.

One other consideration would be that many people are expecting 2023 to be a bloodbath in terms of hiring . Of course these things are crazy hard to predict though

Thanks everyone so far!
Another thing I also want to note is that deferring would be binding, and I would have to withdraw from the HLS waitlist.
