Cash out a scholarship?

Post by BlueSkiesonMars » Fri Oct 25, 2019 8:26 pm

If a law school (state, not private) offers someone a scholarship amount (say 20k) that renews every year and the student is receiving GI Bill and YRP...can that student cash out the scholarship as excess payment? Similar to people getting private loans in excess of the cost of attendance.

Generally no, but some schools will. Ask the financial aid office if they'll classify your loans as living expenses, not academic, so that you'll get it back.
