How does aid work for Law School? Similar to Undergrad?

Post by spottedgiraffes » Thu Jun 30, 2016 4:08 pm

Filled out FAFSA for 2016-2017, but are law school costs only loan based or do they have grants based on need like they did in undergraduate studies? For my Bachelors Degree, they gave me a non-scholarship grant for about $20k based on my family's need. I took out some of the remaining amount in loans + paid monthly. Does law school give you grants like this based on need? I don't think I'll be getting scholarships for law school since I'm on the waitlist for all the schools I applied to and I know funds are already running low. Am I going to have to take out $50k in pure loans?

Some law schools do give out aid based on need (usually pretty minimal though), so it's not completely unreasonable that you'd be taking out $50,000 in loans. That's why it's important to maximize your LSAT score and submit applications wisely.
