Columbia (0) vs. NYU (75K) vs. Chicago (90k)

Post by together41 » Fri Apr 22, 2016 12:56 pm

Just got an offer of Zero Dollars from Columbia today after getting 75K at NYU and 90K at Chicago.
How should I make them aware of this aid, and what are the chances that they will increase my scholarship?

You shouldn't definitely try to negotiate.

If negotiation fails, you should enroll at UChicago. Congrats on the strong scholarship offer.

Columbia is notoriously cheap, but it's worth a shot. I wouldn't lose any sleep over going to Chicago rather than Columbia though.

Try to negotiate with Columbia but keep in mind that even if they match Chicago they're going to be more expensive. Pick Chicago.

They did not match NYU or Chicago for me, FYI. I received substantially less. I'm hoping I'm the exception rather than the rule... Wishing you luck.

Let us know how it turns out.

ETA: I don't know how I just landed in this relatively dated thread. Sorry for bumping!
