Berkeley Merit scholarship inquiry

Post by Rileygirl » Wed Mar 23, 2016 1:11 am

Hi,
Does anyone have tips on how to negotiate with Berkeley outside of their set list of matching schools. I received numerous $100,000+ from top 20 and $50,000 from Georgetown. I noticed on forums that Berkeley used to match Georgetown but I don't see them listed on the site this year.
Should I go ahead and call/email office since Georgetown is T14 after all?
Any feedback is so appreciated. Thank you!!

A lady from Berkeley I talked to at an event said their matching policy was very strict and no exceptions. You can try - the worst they can say is no - but I wouldn't get my hopes up.

They negotiate through the matching scholarship program. You could still get merit aid, but I don't think you will be able to negotiate using those offers listed. But like Holodigm said, I don't think it would hurt to try, though it's likely a waste of time.
