are binding scholarship offers a thing?

Post by oh lawd » Fri Feb 19, 2016 1:28 am

Suppose I have offers from X, Y, and Z. I really want to go to X, but their offer isn't what I want it to be for aid. Is there a way to formally (contract) or informally (just saying it without coming off as a douche) counter offer and say "If you increase my aid to (insert desired level of aid) I will guarantee matriculation."

Just wondering. I'm weighing three options that are all attractive, but none of them blow me away. If any one of those schools stepped up and blew me away I'm ready to sign on the dotted line, I really like all three of the schools and would be happy at any of them, and I'm not looking forward to the next month of negotiating and waiting and negotiating and waiting and etc etc

I have heard that this technique can help, but you better be ready to matriculate if you do it! I have one school where I am considering this as well.

Good Luck!
