Will undergad Stafford loans accrue interest in law school?

Post by jlamb555 » Wed Apr 23, 2014 3:33 pm

Will the subsidized loans go back to being interest free once I can start deferring payments? In other words, will you be able to move back into the grace period? And will the unsubsidized loans compound interest in this scenario?

From my understanding, unless your grace period ends before you go to law school...then the grace period restarts when you graduate law school.

AKA - If you graduate in December or before that the year before law school, your loan will enter repayment. This means you will have to make payments before law school and repayment will begin immediately upon graduation from law school.

If you graduate in May before law school, your loans won't enter repayment and that grace period will start again upon graduation from law school.

What does repayment have to do with interest accrual?

OP asked about grace periods... The interest question was already answered.
