I was reading about attaining GRAD+ (PLUS) loans on an email sent by a school and it mentioned that a student or potential student must have good credit history. What does the government and US DOE consider "good"? Is anyone ever really denied these loans?
Asking for a me, someone with very limited credit history, like most 0Ls (I assume).

I was told by a finaid officer that it's practically an auto-approval. He said that as long as you haven't declared bankruptcy or defaulted on a loan recently that you'll be approved. That's just one person's - albeit educated - opinion though, so maybe take it with a grain of salt.

Okay, cool. (Congrats on your cycle, btw.) I'm contesting a payment of like $300 with Time Warner but maybe I'll just screw it and pay, like they want me to do.Marquis wrote:I was told by a finaid officer that it's practically an auto-approval. (thanks, you too!) Yeah, that may be for the best. It were me, I'd far rather eat the $300.00 than risk throwing a wrench in my student loans.Baby_Got_Feuerbach wrote:Okay, cool. You are considered to have an adverse credit history if you are 90 or more
days delinquent on any debt or if, within 5 years of the date of the credit
report, you have been the subject of a default determination, bankruptcy
discharge, foreclosure, repossession, tax lien, wage garnishment, or writeoff
of a Federal Student Aid debt (for example, a Direct Loan or Federal
Stafford Loan).
What are my options if I have an adverse credit history?
You may still receive a Direct PLUS Loan if you obtain an endorser who
does not have an adverse credit history. An endorser is someone who
agrees to repay the loan if you do not repay it.
