Negotiating Scholarships

Post by Trig » Sun Mar 23, 2014 2:29 pm

For example:

Say I received $25,000 a year at Berkeley* and used this offer to negotiate with Cornell to go from $20,000 a year to $35,000 a year. Then I go back to Berkeley and say I now have $35,000 a year at Cornell can that offer be matched or exceeded.

At what point do schools get sick of this cycle of negotiation? Or is it just a part of the process? Thanks!

I also need help, plus could someone look at an email I wish to send? Here is my situation:

GW: $105,000 scholarship ($35K a year)
W & M: $31K a year (tuiton: $39K)
Fordham: $35K a year. I've already negotiated with them, but will ask for a higher price.

Would it be wise to make these schools compete for me? I have a 167 on my second try, 3.75 and am a URM (Hispanic).

This isn't the help you are looking for but with those numbers you should shoot for lower T14.

Columbia put me on reserve, GULC accepted me, and NYU I am still waiting for. Way ahead of you brother :)
