Accepting scholarship and canceling later

I have been offered a scholarship to one school but I'm waiting to hear back from another. The deadline for accepting the scholarship is before I hear back from my top choice school. Am
I allowed to go ahead and accept, then decline once I hear from the other school?? :?:

No, that's not a good choice instead email the school and ask for an extension. They will usually be considerate if your reason is legitimate. If you communicate you concern effectively it shouldn't be a problem.
