Additional loans 1L for relocation/laptop? Forum

Additional loans 1L for relocation/laptop?

Do schools offer additional loans 1L year for relocation or the purchase of a laptop? Do you have to ask? I'm particularly interested in the T14.

I found this thread, but it's not very informative.

I would check with the Financial Aid office at the specific school. Generally, I don't believe schools offer you loans in excess of the total cost of attending that they've calculated for a given school year. However, some schools make exceptions in extraordinary cases (e.g., illness) or for computer purchases. For example, UVA will do a one-time increase to your budget (up to $2500) solely for the purchase of a laptop and computer-related supplies. I haven't heard of any schools doing increases for relocation, but I also haven't looked into that specifically.
