Negotiating with W&M using W&L $$$
I was offered a $15,000 per year scholarship at William and Mary, which is ranked 35. Today, Washington and Lee (ranked 24th) offered me a $30,000 per year scholarship.
What are my chances negotiating this with William and Mary? How would I go about leveraging this?

Out of curiosity, what is the wording of your scholarship offers? I can't tell if mine is a one-time sum of $15K, or $15K annually. It says that I get half of it in the fall and spring semesters, then the other half the second year, and that it is renewed if I maintain a C average.

Right, but if half of the $15 goes to my first year and half to the second year, how is it broken down?
1L: 7.5
2L: 7.5
3L: 15 (renewed)
?

No, it's 15k annually, delivered in installments of 7.5k/semester (7.5*2=15). They drop another 15k on you next year, pending a C average. You got a little over 1/3 tuition...unless you got some weird deal or I seriously misread my own letter from them. I'm pretty sure it's a yearly award.

Gotcha, thanks. The wording was just a bit weird.Circlewave wrote:No, it's 15k annually, delivered in installments of 7.5k/semester (7.5*2=15). W&M did get back to me and upped their offer to 13k a year so they are open to negotiating at least somewhat.
