Leveraging NYU with Michigan $$ Forum

Hey.

First-time poster, long-time creeper. Got into Michigan with a 15K/year scholarship two months ago, just got into NYU yesterday. All things being equal, I'd prefer NYU--I'm from upstate NY, and I have a lot of friends in the city. But 45K + reduced cost of living is too much to turn down.

Any thoughts on how to best leverage NYU for merit $$? Any success stories out there?
