When negotiating scholarship money from schools, what are the reasons prospective students usually give to the Admissions Committee? For instance, what if a school has strong employment prospects, how do you negotiate money from them? Especially if you fall at their medians. I read somewhere that a prospective student was able to negotiate a good amount of money from a school because the school had poor employment prospects, and he was trying to minimize his risk. But what do others (who are dealing with higher-ranked schools) do?
Thanks.
