Columbia/NYU merit scholarships

Does anyone know when Columbia and NYU start giving out merit scholarships (i.e., do they offer them to people upon admittance, or do they wait until later in the cycle to decide who to make offers to)? I'm wondering because I have competitive numbers but won't be applying until late in the cycle (mid- to late January).

IDk re Columbia, but to be considered for NYU's RTK full-ride you have to apply by Jan 1. Other merit aid probably comes later in Feb.
