What schools give substantial need based scholarships (as opposed to loans)? If I don't receive a merit scholarship, should I just assume the cost of attending will be sticker price+ COL? If so, how do schools determine financial need?
Thanks guys! Congrats to everyone already admitted:-)

Re: Need based aid?
HYS are the only schools that give need based aid to a substantial portion of their incoming classes.
Some other schools have pure need based aid, but it is generally limited to those who are incredibly poor, and whose parents are incredibly poor.

Why would it hurt your chances?
I know I wont be getting any merit based aid. But my EFC has always been 0 (poor poor childhood), and im sure I will get a little need based aid. I am not banking on it but there is a good possibility.
