I applied for the PIPS Scholarship at WCL where they award three years of tuition. Hypothetically, if i was awarded this scholarship, then the $42k would be covered and would I have to take out loans for the rest? Specifically the housing, board, food, and transportation fees. Is that the amount they are recommending or is that what I am obligated to pay? Thanks in advance. I am just calculating the lowest and highest amounts of what I would be paying if I decided to attend (the items in bold seem rather exaggerated per month which is why I'm asking).
From the website:
http://www.wcl.american.edu/finaid/cost.cfm
Cost of Attendance: 2010 - 2011
Expenses Full-time Enrollment
Tuition $42,614
Fees - General/SBA $474

Board/Food @ $322 per month $2,900
Books/Supplies** $1,500
Transportation $2,336
Personal/Misc.*** $ 3,500
Total $65,646
* Estimate based on the standard first-year (JD) course load of 19 credits @ $1,578 per credit hour.

Yes, you'd have to take out loans for the restoreo3405 wrote:Hypothetically, if i was awarded this scholarship, then the $42k would be covered and would I have to take out loans for the rest? That is their recommended amount, you could end up spending way more or less
And, you are not obligated to pay that, but for your first year you should probably take out the recommended amount in loans and see how you do, then adjust 2L and 3L accordingly.
