163/3.83 - Chance for money at T-70 schools?

Post by whereto4law » Mon Nov 01, 2010 11:52 am

163/3.83

Some work experience, on-campus leadership, 2 good LOR's

I am pretty debt averse and wondering if I have any chance at scholarship money at T-70...?

T70 isn't even a thing. Retake the LSAT, score +7. Get $$ at a T10 or $$$$ at a T20.

Retaking the LSAT is not an option for me. Please re-advise.

Make it an option. Retake it until you get those extra points or until you've taken it three times. Take a year. Consider the value of a 10 point increase it could be worth 100,000 dollars in scholarship money, and an untold amount of money in future earnings due to increased career prospects. 7 points higher and you are in T-10.

OP, ppl on this site don't understand that not everyone can get a 170+. Your best bet is to go to lawschoolnumbers.com and lsearch ppl from the 2009 cycle with similiar numbers to yours. It will show where they got in and where/how much scholarship they got. Also might want to narrow down your search to what region you're interested in. No sense in taking 75% scholarship to Colorado if you want to work in Florida and FSU gives you a 50% scholarship.

Thanks pjo, that is very helpful. As you mentioned, not everyone can get a 170+. My 163 resulted from taking a prep course and studying rigorously for the exam.

Yea I know what you mean. I took a PS course as well as going through the PS Bible/self study for 4 months and still got a 162. Luckily I have a pretty good GPA. Sometimes I feel like a broken record on here having to tell ppl retaking is not an option for me. O well... Good luck with the cycle, you and I have similiar numbers and we're both probably looking at similiar schools considering were both looking for some scholarship.
