FAFSA question

So, I'm terribly confused about the FAFSA situation.

I'm applying ED to UVA and I'd like to get my financial aid in as soon as possible. I went to fill out the fafsa a few minutes ago and only the 2010-2011 application is up.

To make matters worse, the site says: " the 2010-2011 School Year (July 1st, 2010 - June 30th, 2011):
FAFSA on the Web applications must be submitted by midnight Central Daylight time, June 30, 2011."

So they must be submitted on the last day of the school year in order to receive financial aid for that school year? It doesn't make any sense.


Does anyone have any clarification?

dude chill out....FAFSA for next year is not released until after Jan 1
