Return of Federal Loans? Forum

If a student was to withdrawal from law school before the refund deadline, does the school automatically return the funds to the lender/government or is it the responsibility of the student to do so? This is in regard to Title IV loans i.e Federal Direct Sub and Un-sub, Grad PLUS, etc.
