Negotiating aid with HYS

Has anyone heard of success negotiating with HYS for aid using a Darrow, Butler, and/or Hamilton? If so, what approaches have seemed to work?

HYS do not offer merit aid, only need-based aid.

That's what they say, but I've heard rumors of getting better aid packages from HYS when having scholarship offers from other schools.
