Schools known for being generous with aid
What schools outside of the top 30 are known for being generous with their aid? I know a lot of factors go into the decision, but as a general rule or broad stereotype, which schools tend to give the most aid?

Cooley.
Edit to incorporate an actual response: Georgia generally gives out quite a bit of merit aid if you're above their medians. Also, Alabama is a good place to look (although ranked #30)

Thanks for the link. Looks like that was for last years cycle. How is this year looking for everyone, similar to last years list?deadatheist wrote:old.... but bump and see?

No one has any anecdotal input? Come on its Friday night, its not like we have anything better to do.

Illinois seems pretty awesome about this. Only aid offer I've actually received so far (others have not sent this information yet), and their offer was 30k a year. Lots of people seem to have gotten similar awards.

Wake Forest. If you are above median, you can probably get some good money.
They gave me $18K a year.

WashU in St. Louis is, much like their undergrad, pretty good at giving money to kids who are too good for them.

Does anyone know what schools are generous with need aid? I'm still confused as to how that works since it seems everyone takes out hundreds or thousands in loans

Not sure about schools, but your mother was very generous with me last night.

Really? She was greedy with me. I kept giving it to her and she just hollered for more.adameus wrote:Not sure about schools, but your mother was very generous with me last night.

I am curious about the need-based part too. I was kind of counting on my school (Columbia, ED) to be generous with that! I have heard that they are but I have not gotten my package yet.
