When do we actually apply for loans? I got my "award" letter (loans maximums) from my school a few weeks ago. What's next?

I assumed I would get my loan money the week before classes begin like I always did in UG but according to our FA office we won't get the money until about 3 weeks after classes begin. We were told to adjust our summer budget/textbook budget accordingly.
Sucks.

Check your award letter for instructions. There might be a deadline to respond/accept your award. In my case, I've completed loan entrance counseling, and now I just gotta sign those MPN's and get my credit checked by the Dept. of Ed.
