Post by Miamiboi305 » Tue May 26, 2009 4:15 pm

I've notice many peope classify URMs in different categories but what is a AA male and why is this type of URM looked at different by law schools compared to other URMs?

Assuming you aren't a flame...

AA male is short for for African American Male.

Generally speaking, African American men are very, very "UR" and may receive additional consideration on that basis.

There are many possibilities:

African American male
Affirmative Action male
Alcoholics Anonymous male
Ann Arbor male
Aggressive Alpha male
Androgynous Alcoholic male

Chances are though, they are referring to an African American male - one of the most severely "underrepresented" categories in law school admissions.

It is a male from Arkansas or Alaska as these are the 2 most underrepresented states in law school admissions. If you are from Alaska a 165 counts as a 171.

It just goes to show how Asians are completely out of the picture with respect to these debates, even though they are held to an even higher standard than white males.

Because, for purposes of the law school admissions process, those of Asian descent are not considered to be members of an underrepresented minority.

Off topic, but this reminded me of a debate I had with a buddy while ago. Who gets it worse in action movies: south east asians or arabs?

I say post 9/11 Arabs, pre 9/11 south east asians.
