Should I sit this cycle out?

Post by PinkDaffodil » Fri Oct 21, 2016 3:43 am

Hi all, just received my LSAT score and I scored a 153 (most recent tests were in the mid to lower 160s, took a prep course prior to testing). Was hoping to get into some of the schools in the 14-30 range, specifically Gtown, but with this score I doubt that's possible. I can retake in Dec but from what has been posted on here, applying as early as possible is preferred.

Should I sit this cycle out?

Recap
GPA:3.9*
LSAT: 153 :(
URM: AA Female
Softs and life experience available upon request.

Hello,

I think you should re-take especially if you were PTing in the 160s. You're definitely capable of scoring higher, don't sell yourself short, your apps wont be late if you submit in January. So I don't think you have to sit this cycle out!

An app with a 160+ in January>> An app with 153 in October!

What was the problem area?

You def need to retake. Ten more points gets you most of the T14 with that GPA. And it's possible. I went from 158-162-170

You should definitely re-take. Keep taking practice tests to maximize your score. There's a lot you can do in a month or so. In addition, you'll have to make sure you tackle test-day anxiety (well before test day). Try meditation, exercise, eating better etc. If you get your nerves right, you'll be golden. Good luck!

You definitely should not be applying with your current score, but if you feel confident retaking in December you can still apply this cycle. Dec is coming up fast, though, so you could definitely wait til June! Really depends on how prepared you can be in a month.
