2017 USWR Rankings (according to Cornell)

1. Yale
2. Harvard
2. Stanford
4. Cornell
BostonU, ND, and Cornell are jumping up for sure, solely based on their weirdness.

Idk man, Cornell doesnt seem to be more selective than Duke or Michigan.

Surprise/Unpopular opinion - Georgetown falls out of the T-14, Texas or UCLA slips in
I really don't think Georgetown should be a T14, tbh lol
Jumping in on this to say I agree with you bri! But it could also be me just being salty off getting put on the WL.
+1 for UT slipping into T14 and wildcard forecast: USC overtakes UCLA

https://7sage.com/top-law-school-rankings/

interesting to see the movement. Georgetown and Cornell have switched a few time, and a few years ago Texas was 14 - tied with Georgetown...

The drip-drip-drip aspect of LS admissions is far worse than the LSAT score release drama haha.

Me too, except it's been three weeks, not two months. I can't imagine how I'd feel if I'd been waiting post-interview for this long! Honestly it might have been better for my sanity not to interview, though if it contributes to getting in, I'll be glad I did.

We have to stay hopeful and positive. :D

URM is real guys lol. I went to an event for USC yesterday that had alumni, admitted students, 1L reps, and both deans. In a room of about 65 people. I was the only black person.

Yeah... Big Law is 3% black and I think the profession is ~4%. So at that rate 1-2 people in a room of 65 is normal.

That's the thing I always heard we were few but I never really thought about it until I was in that situation.

I'm on a few but I'm not counting them.

Yo when I went to USC yesterday the Dean of Admissions talked to me about my personal statement and softs. I was like wow this [racist language redacted] really remembered my app lol. He said they all thought I had a very strong application.

Thanks for responding. That's amazing, btw! There's something to be said for going where you're really wanted.

I got put on "reserve" at Columbia and asked on the Columbia threads if I should ride it out or just go ahead and withdraw, since the odds are so slim of getting taken off, plus I can't imagine getting much/any aid off their waitlist. My initial reaction was to withdraw, but I thought about it some more and decided to just wait it out. If something comes of it, I'll be pleasantly surprised; if not, then no harm done just waiting until I'm ready to deposit elsewhere.

What school(s) are you WL at, and where do they stand in relation to your top choice(s)?
I was WLd at Chicago, UPenn, GTown, NU and still haven't heard back from H, but I'm not expecting an acceptance from them. I'm in at UVA, Emory and UMich, and I really do want to go to one of those 3, but the $ is an issue. I feel like a scholarship offer or an acceptance from Chicago would help with that.

I think I'm also just annoyed that none of those WL schools bothered to really make a decision? Like, Boalt is the only one who was straight up rejected me, and that is way easier to deal with, y'know?

Yeah it's cool to not just be looked at as a number at a place you actually want to go lol. I met someone from this Site at the event. He was like what's up Chuckles lol. I'm like really bro.

Some people do get off the waitlist though. I'd put a deposit down and wait for the other school.

Yeah, I went to a pwi for undergrad and was STILL thrown off by how few black ppl were there. There were a lot of people of color, just not black...

At this point I'd most likely be using the WL to negotiate scholarships. I guess I'm more wondering if it's worth it to try to negotiate with a school where I already have put down a deposit using the offer I get from the WL.

If that's not a clear statement, please let me know.

I like playing the game at any diversity mixer where I try to see if there are other POC Jewish folks there. There almost never are. L'chaim!

Meh... maybe but probably not. Most WLed folks are gonna have to pay sticker anyway.

Oh, there were more than that where I was, but there was also around 100 students, so slightly larger sample size lol

Yeah lol more students as well. Your sample is probably better because of those two facts.

The asd I went to yesterday I saw and met a few 1l and 3l black students, but I don't remember seeing any black admitted students. I saw a few other poc of color, but not a whole lot. I was thinking it might be because of the location (midwest), but it might not be if it was a similar experience in LA as well.

It was a small sample of admitted students though. I gotta wait until ASD to say for sure.
